I have the G-Codr Incog holster for my Glock 17 and I've trained with it occasionally. I also have a SIRT that helps with practicing at home. And yes, be careful when you are doing repetitive draw/presentation and shooting with repetition as the Incog doesn't cover to the end of the slide. Like Ambu mentioned, it can "leave a mark".

Another thing to consider is clothing that you would wear. I've taken classes in cold climates, like 30-40 degrees and that kind of clothing wasn't practical for me in a Hawaii context. I ran part of the class concealed with either the Incog or a RCS holster, but I ran most of the class with an OWB because of all the layers that I had on.

i am just a helper for the range days, but i would have issues with IWB
too much chance of flashing yourself and others unless done at 3 o'clock, and you might as well be OWB at 3 o'clock
chris, sterling, and the RSOs have the final say

I can see where HDF would be worried, drawing from under a shirt just adds a few more steps and chances for something to go wrong. It's hard not to get competitive and push yourself to get shots off a little faster than your previous time, but at the same time I don't want to snag my Glock on something and go home with muzzle burns... My girlfriend might kill me before I can explain that they aren't hickies.

more thoughts:

- can run the drills cold / dry fire
- when hot, one forward at the line at a time, get to repeat few times (manageable with small class size)
- I think very useful vs. on your own as can get critique (beats drawing at yourself in the mirror)
- less dangerous than being at HF indoor range where you have no control over next to you (they allow IWB? no restriction on draw practice that I heard of)

Got another question too, I'd like to test through a jacket pocket (revolver vs. pistol, port normal vs. port down)  Open range session ok?  (do we have a fire extinguisher at the tables?)
Assault Rifle? What I have here is an Anti-Assault Rifle.

I think a safe way to start would be chamber empty, would add another second to get the gun in action but save your pride and bacon in you managed to get your finger in the triggerguard on the draw.

Unless other RO's disagree, our current policy has been to let the individual run IWB with the shirt tucked in behind it.   If you want to work on your concealed draw, you can do that at home :-).  It's just another step that we have to worry about on the range.  Normally, there are many, many other things we can work on improving on people that you shouldn't have to worry about it.

When the laws change to the point where the training we are doing is for concealment, then that will have to be revised.  Should the range owners then have a problem with us training like that it will have to be addressed.

Thank you for the clarification Chris!

To add some extra info.  It was originally told me that Mike has a problem with people drawing from concealment unless LEO.  Therefore, i never pushed that issue (other things to worry about first).   That's also one of the reasons!

You might get more responses to that question if you posted in a classified ad versus hijacking another thread.

We don't really have storage for our range days.  Just what people can bring with us, so it's usually minimal work.   Do more with less is the current motto.

Is the 20OCT13 range day still a go?  What will be covered and what items are recommended for this shoot?  Just found out that I have that day off...  Mahalo  :shaka:

Just for clarification, October 26th is a go, not October 20th for our next range day.

good day all so here is the up coming plans for range day on sat oct 26th. Starting off with the sign in, waivers and fees. everyone must sign in and sign waivers prior to shooting. Everyone! At this time will pay "match fees" collected pior to shooting. Fee schedule as follows HDF current members "match fee" is $10.00.  As For non-members its $20.00 without joininig the HDF, Or they will be encouraged to join the HDF at this time @ $25.00 for membership and then it would be $10.00 for the day total $35.00 so take advantage of this now.
also forgot the free shoot portion of the day fee is $10.00 for anyone coming out just for that portion which is still a "match fee" because the team building portion is the "match" which is at the end of the day.

As for the finally of the day i like to call it team building " The Match" I have a halloween theme challenge for us so spread the word and lets do this and make the HDF the group to belong too!

all fees collected will pay for the extra equipment now needed due to no access to the container previously used by hdf and to pay for other expenses like insurance costs and of course the main objective 2A rights!

Training time should start aaround 8:30- 9am due to sign in and registration.

Next is the training segment which will be Carbine (  rifle sling, 250 rounds, extra mags, knee pads, belt) with some Pistol transitions( 200 rounds, extra mags, holster). I built some barracaids for this weekend so there will be run and shoots some behind barracaid shooting, carbine to pistol transitions some come prepared to work. As for the finally

mahalo sterling

please, everyone show up early or at least on time
sterling and the range masters will need help setting up, and they will also be busy checking people in (mandatory sign-in, waivers, and fees)
the earlier everyone gets there and gets settled, the more training and shooting can be accomplished
there are more learning AND fun activities planned as the months go on, so come out and join the HDF and participate in the range days!

oh, and please help clean up if you can too
it's a long, hard day, and we don't want sterling and the range masters to be the only ones doing the work
i'll be there only for the fun shoot part, but i'm staying 'til the end to police the area
