But to embrace that view one has to give credence to the idea that humans have autonomy and freedom of choice to make such decisions for themselves, even if it means "other people" (including government hacks) disagree with their decisions.

That cannot be tolerated by the socialist/communist statist fascists who know what is best for every individual, and in "service" to the entire community will impose that tyrannical diktat upon every individual. THE VIRUS!!! Safety Cult is just another step in that imposition of total control.
While you may take this issue (and some others) a bit further than I would, I agree.

I find myself lucky.  I'm younger and have different outlets to keep entertained.  Xbox, internet, cats, wife, etc...I can't imagine what it's like for a grandpa to stay isolated from contact from family and friends for months.  The only thing to look forward to is grocery shopping, that's if they are able to leave. I know a few who's family drops off supplies to their front door.
Your wife is "entertainment" to you?   :o

A) It's a trap
or
B) Good luck 'splaning that to her

But to your point, it depends on the person.  My dad was quite content to spend much of his time alone after my mom died.  I mean we went to dinner, Vegas, etc on a regular basis.  But I would tell him to go visit his brothers, who he was quite close with when I was younger, since they were all retired.  He was like "nah, I just stay home and relax".  I wouldn't call my dad a hermit, but he was quite content to be comfortable cruising at home.

She knows she's "entertainment".

I'm like your dad.  My wife tells me all the time to go hang with my friends when she's out of town.  She's currently in Austin, TX for work right now.  I tell her nah, I just wanna relax at home and play xbox.  Plus all my friends are heavy drinkers and I don't drink.

I've found that I'm becoming more like my dad.  I mean I enjoy going out with friends and stuff, but I'm content to just be at home.  Cruising watching TV, reading, cleaning around the house, etc.  There was a time when I would be bored and look for stuff to do and call friends until I found a "victim".  But nowadays, I'm usually the one who gets the call (instead of calling around).

My buddy has gotten into PS recently.  I have played some CoD when I went over to his house.  I'm getting better, but I have no interest in playing at home.  I have a bunch of nephews who want me to get an xbox so that I can play online with them.  The Rainbow Six Siege or something like that.  They just want me as a scout to go out, get blasted, and report to them where the others are.  That's why they have younger cousins. . .

Excellent article with hard data about mask wearing and the bullshit claims about them "working to stop the spread".

Everyone is already wearing a mask. They just don’t work.

Americans have exceeded universal masking benchmarks, but it has not slowed or stopped the spread of COVID-19.

https://jordanschachtel.substack.com/p/everyone-is-already-wearing-a-mask

One of the most common pro-mask arguments I’ve heard over the course of the past year, both from “public health experts” and your average citizen, sounds similar to the following statement:

“If only everyone would just wear a mask, we would be able to crush the virus and end the pandemic.”

This line of reasoning is frequently espoused by lockdown governors and “public health experts.” You see, the problem isn’t them, it’s you, the citizen, we’re told. Wear a mask, peasant. You’re the problem! You’re the reason why the pandemic is still a problem in this country.

Deaths up? Why aren’t you wearing a mask. Cases up? Wear a mask. Hospitals crowded? The problem is that not enough people are wearing masks, they claim.

The idea that not enough Americans are wearing masks is detached from reality. And we have the data to prove it.

The Delphi group at Carnegie Mellon University has developed a very informative, consistently updated mask compliance tracker. It shows that the overwhelming majority of Americans across the nation are wearing masks. And in virtually every major population center in the United States, especially in areas where COVID-19 cases are rising, mask compliance levels are off the charts high, with most major metro areas registering well over 90 percent compliance.

It's not going to stop even with several vaccines on the way. Our leaders are so drunk with power. Not only our leaders but groups such as the Hawaii Kapu Quarantine Breakers Groups is seeking law enforcement powers to punish those that don't follow certain rules.

I'm tired of arguing. I've been labeled a person who doesn't care, a rebel rouser - a non-conformist. But yet these are the same people complaining about the same corrupt government managing the rail system. Most people will comply with what ever our leaders tell them to do. Most of the world is wearing masks - its the new vitamin C

The popular fiction is pointing towards Bill Gates and a techno-eugenic mass sterilization campaign in order to slow down population growth. If they can convince the slaves who survive it to give up meat and eat bugs instead then the environment is saved! The way so many crazy things have become reality lately it is definitely something to watch out for.

Playing the computer programmed levels are boring (campaign).  Playing online (multiplayer) is where it's at.  To a 10 year old, we're all gay.

They had a stat that the average age of a online player is 36.  So you are older than the average, but still can play.  Talking shit is the best part.

Especially now with COVID, it would give you some human interaction. Last night I was playing in against some guys from Alabama. And even got intentional players here and there.  That's when the real shit talking comes out, especially when their French.

Sorry, I've been off in covidland where the trees are psychedelic and reality is what you are told it is.
For real though, I've been at home 99% of the time teaching the kids.
I don't know if anyone here has posted this but I find it will interesting. Seems to me according to this, death rates are not what they are made out to be. Imagine my shock.

"This trend is completely contrary to the pattern observed in all previous years. Interestingly, as depicted in the table below, the total decrease in deaths by other causes almost exactly equals the increase in deaths by COVID-19. This suggests, according to Briand, that the COVID-19 death toll is misleading. Briand believes that deaths due to heart diseases, respiratory diseases, influenza and pneumonia may instead be recategorized as being due to COVID-19."

Pwned

Two of my friend's kids often play when we're over BBQ'ing or something.  I can hear them on their headsets and the trash talk is pretty funny.  I suspect that's why one of our "esteemed" members gets most of his human interaction.

My buddy to is trying to get me to play CoD is like 40-41.  He and another of his friends are pretty good.  I suck.  The coordination with the controller is what sucks for me.  Not like back in college where it was almost automatic.

That's because you are playing on a consul. It is way easier to play on a PC. Controls for the first person shooters are way better than using a controller.
Me and my son play CS:GO, he is obviously better than I am but I took a ten year break from those games. Personally I like the rpgs, elder scrolls takes some if my time and it isn't as fast pace as the other fps games.

Yeah, it's really tough to play video games on a Roman magistrate (or even a foreign government official).    :geekdanc: :shaka:

What?  ???

Nah, nah.  I picked up on, uh, some of that.   ;D

I mean the games are fun when my buddy and I are cruising and drinking.  But not really interested in those games.  Plus, I know why my buddies kids want me to play.  Sacrificial lamb. . .

PC is for noobs, way easier to control.  I noticed after witching to xbox, i would catch stuff before they fall.  Like knocking stuff over.  So it helped my reflexes.  I'm sure your friends kids shit talk is more PG cause their dad is there.  Mrs. CMO thinks I have tourettes when I play, heads.

Hah, love auto correct. But you get it.
Back in my younger years me and friends would go into the basement with a bunch of beer and stuff and play tekken, mortal combat and whatnot for hours. On a console.
Tournament style was fun but I guess you need plexiglass if you want to do that sort of thing now.

Reflexes from FPS game you say?  :hmm:

On the trash talk?  Not really.  I mean it's not all bad, but I've been where I overheard them and was like  :o .  Most of it is pretty mild IMO, but sometimes it can get pretty, uh, bush league. . . not that the know what that means. . .

One of the kids is the youngest of the group and he is a SUPER bad sport.  I mean at everything.  Will challenge me to chess, gets PWNED, then cries and throws the board.  Same with xbox.  Apparently he's busted a few controllers after throwing them at the wall after losing.  Grandma take care and got him new ones.  He's gotten better though.

That's like a couple of friends in college.  After class, they would get beers and cigaweed and lock themselves in their room and play Street Fighter, Madden, etc.  Sometimes even cartoons.  It was hilarious.
