This is why bipartisan support is needed for the green infrastructure deal. All those oil workers will get layed off then, can go work for green tech and infrastructure. If not they are eligible for unemployment and those responsible for holding off the green bill will be responsible.
So, if YOU got laid off because Big Tech bought out your contract with the state and replaced you with their employee, and there was no other place hiring because Big Tech pretty much bought out ALL gov't contracts (kickback for helping Joe win), assuming there are no more IT jobs you're qualified for in the area, what job would you turn to?
These displaced pipeline workers in many cases spent decades learning and practicing the skills they needed to be productive and knowledgable in their CAREERS. Not just jobs -- CAREERS. Now you think they should start over at the bottom of a new industry in which they have no experience or training?
You Liberals are all alike in this one aspect -- you belive everyone is the same -- except for you personally. You want everyone to get $15/hr because they are as important to the company as the managers and owners. You want to shutdown industries and expect all the workers in that sector to magically find jobs WITH THE SAME PAY AND BENEFITS with a company in a different sector.
Maybe Liberals who only work in government can make lateral moves to jobs in other areas with little training or experience, but that's not true of every field.
What about the people who are in their 40s, 50s and 60s? Are they supposed to start at the bottom in a new job? Bottom jobs provide bottom pay. These people have mortgages, families to support and retirement accounts to fund.
This all assumes there are going to be the same number of "green" jobs available in the areas where the pipeline workers live.
There's a recession coming that's going to be on par with the one Obama failed to deal with. We don't see it now, because the economy is shut down for the most part. When it reopens, people are going to be out of work, expecting gov't assistance, and looking for jobs with businesses that are shut down for good or not hiring until they dig out from under the pandemic costs.
So simple to say, "Learn to code," which Candidate Biden was telling people. Unless you post that on Twitter -- they'll ban you for that.
BTW, coding really doesn't pay that well.
