Why should we trust the media after years of lies? A perfectly fair and valid point. But we don't have to trust the media, we can verify. Look into the data and see if they match what is being reported. Find explanations that add context to help digest the data instead of just listening to some politician spin of the data.
The problem that bothers me is when this lack of trust only rears its head when looking at the opposition. People who say they don't trust Doctors but suddenly find the one guy saying vaccines are bad and take that message without question. They don't trust the media except when it is someone supporting their position.

Could hospitals have been more prepared? Maybe a little but its not like its just a matter of buying more supplies. More beds, more staff, more space, etc. there is a lot of logistics. And even if we somehow point to hospitals saying that they didn't prepare well enough that really changes nothing when it comes to a full hospital deciding who to admit and who to turn away. Arguments about blame don't solve hospital crowding, a hospital will be forced to decide how to triage.
If we were neighbors would you have a problem with me deciding to burn tires? What if I told you I didn't trust the media that told me burning rubber fumes are bad for you? I could tell you mind your own business and buy a fan to push the smoke away if you don't like it.
Is burning tires in ur yard legal?
Say for arguments sake it is legal. There is a diff between me asking u to stop and someone who lives 1 hour away, who u dont know and asking u to stop because they heard from a friend who heard from a crackhead, who heard from me that its bothering me.
Or lets say u plan on burning it, but havent yet and havent for 2 years. Then i call the cops. Can they arrest u or issue a citation because u might burn tires? Like how someone might catch covid. 1 has to catch it first, then need hospital care in order to affect the hospital #s.
Like we covered already, many other countries data conflicts with the main US info. So either they are all wrong, or we are.
Bet WMDs were real too right? Fool me once...
