FYI... Line is only to the first column!!!
The Supreme Court has ruled that you, as an individual, have no right to protection by the police. Their only obligation is to protect "society".

Now that's progressive like asking for IDs from permit-only pickups in line.

Aloha guys and gals,

Malia Zimmerman is doing a story on the long lines and wait at the HPD firearms unit and would like to get a few personal stories from those that have braved the lines and the wait recently. She'd like you to send her an e-mail with your experiences before 1400 today. If interested and would like to share your experiences with a very firearms friendly newspaper, here's her email address: Malia@hawaiireporter.com

It doesn't have to be long, three or four sentences and the approximate date.

Thanks!

I flew in from Cali on Wed Jan 2 and arrived at the station at 1:00pm to register my out of state guns.  There were 6 people between me and the double doors.  I was done at 3:20pm with 5 firearms registered.  I thought Cali laws sucked! HPD was so backwards and unorganized.  There was a hand written sign stating if you were doing out of state transfers and you weren't in by 330pm you're S#!7 outta luck.  good thing i barely made it.

There was an officer pulling ID's from the line every 20 mins for permit pickups.  That was the only thing that made sense.   :shaka:

Brother you are lucky.  This is the most efficient HPD has ever been at processing permits/registering firearms.

Got there at 7:45 this morning, picked up my pistol permit and was out of there by 9:00. The line didn't look too bad so I decided to pick up my pistol and get back in line to register.  I was only there for 30 minutes!!!!  I left the HPD with my new Glock at 11:00!!! I think the combination of bad weather and the extra staffing at HPD made today "short" day.   :shaka:
Shoot safe. Shoot straight.

Lines are long again.  It's a little past the metal detectors.

Hopefully that's the lunch hour rush. The reason I used to avoid going between 11:30 and 2 ish. But back then, a "long" line was anything more than around 6 people waiting outside. Haha.

LOL... I think it's because OGC is open again.  I just saw most of these guys there.

Arrived at 12pm, line was to the snack shop.
Got in the front door at 2:10pm.
Finished at 3:25pm, front door was closed and people still lined to the door.

Yes, OGC was insanely overcrowded. HPD came down with two squad cars to warn/tow all those double parked. I didn't know the lines were that short for HPD. I guess all the initial craze is starting to fade?

The line this morning was short.  I was in and out picking up my permit in about 5 minutes (helped that they came out and asked who was picking up).

The line this afternoon was long (to the metal detector).  I just barely made it in the doors again before they locked it.

OGC was packed with people picking up their rifles and/or pistols.  I'm not so sure that the lines are dying down yet.  There were people sitting around (literally) waiting for their paper work to get done (not a knock on OGC).

OGC was nutz this morning. I got there at 8am and luckily was one of the first out the door with my guns. I headed over to Norm's Sports Shop  :shaka: and then made it to the police station. Seriously like right after i got there (at the first pilar) the line got huge and went all the way to the diamond head side wall with everyone from OGC. Got there at 11 left at 1:45. I bet a lot of the braddahs and sistahs didnt make it in the door.
