I had 11:10-12:30. Wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be and fully enjoyed blasting away. Got to see some old friends too. The pistol side seemed to be holding things up though and caused the rifle side to fall behind a little. Oh well…… the Parks department peeps were there but pretty nice. I actually got an extra 20 minutes to shoot before my time started. Hopefully this process will go away…. :shaka:

Lopaka:
Ahh yes, the old Brodie/Judd property where members of the Honolulu Rifles led by German Consul General H.F. Glade trained before committing treason in an event culminating in the Bayonet Constitution. Thankfully the Honolulu Rifles were disbanded in 1890 after the 1889 Wilcox rebellion and then exposed as Knights of Pythias member operating in the Kingdom under charter from Congress. Cause if they were not exposed in 1890 while open carrying in public in the Kingdom, then we today wouldn't know the US is liable for interfering and intervening in the domestic affairs of the Kingdom prior to landing troops in 1893. Now this...adds a whole other perspective on 1893 as well as the policy thereafter to engage in fraud by contract and trade with successors of usurpers.

Excellent historical information worthy of its own thread.

The US empire meddling in the affairs of sovereign nations leading to illegal overthrows and illegal occupation?  How shocking....

And some Americans living in Hawaii today dare question why surviving Hawaiian nationals as well as an ever-growing number of nations on this planet despise the US empire?

Just curious as to why he hangs out at the restroom.  Only did the usual greetings when I see him.  One time he did a lengthy conversation with me about him and the birds that hang out around the restroom.  Couldn't quite make out what he was trying to convey but he was quite passionate about it.

Always thought of him as the caretaker of the place.  Officially or unofficially.

New pistol stands are pretty tight, had to use a big rock to hammer in my target legs. Only 11 targets set up at 11am time, a lot a room left for people with no appointments.

Yes
Mine worked just fine

Rifle side metal stands in the ground still suck balls
Some are buried under ground, cannot find them

So during the whole make reservations in order to pta/register your firearm at HPD there were accusations of possible "anti-gun" people taking slots to help make the whole process even more encumbering than it already was. Is this not a concern again this time around? I'm glad the parking lot was full, but not hopeful that so many spots went vacant.

Glad the range is open, but don't feel like IDing just to shoot either. I know I can walk in but with all the spots being reserved far in advance it's difficult to get they motivation to try my luck. Hopefully things change in the future.

in my opinion, the worst aspect of the HPD system was lack of registration for users scheduling an appointment.  You could enter just about anything for name and phone, and use a free email address.  No way to hold anyone gumming up the works accountable.

With the parks and rec system, you have to go through a user registration and verification process.  Any A-Holes would have to create many new accounts to chew up multiple reservations.  Once a user is identified as recurring failure to show, that account can be suspended (hopefully that's what happens).

It's typical for around 25% to 50% of people to be no shows for reserved events with no cost.  So it doesn't surprise me there are that many open lanes at the range.

Right.  But, at least registrations give the admins the ability to suspend those who have excessive no-shows.

I think there should be an option to cancel if one can't make it, then have that spot open up again in the system, so someone else will have a chance to go......or is there?

We had to deal with that in the HPD permit reservation system in the beginning, too.  If you needed to cancel an appointment, you had to call up or go there in person.

They eventually made it so you could cancel online, which is one way people on the forum were able to trade reservations.  One person would cancel, and the other would take it as soon as it appeared in the list -- assuming someone else didn't snag it first.

Target height update.

Effective Saturday, June 3, 2023: For rifle range targets, center of lowest target must be at least 5 feet from the ground.
