When did you submit your applications if I may ask?

Subtracting 126 days from June 9, 2023, gives you February 3, 2023.

Might not be exact, but it's in the ballpark.

Sat thru a presentation by HPD on Friday.  They informed the group that only about 300 permits for about 400 guns has been approved and the backlog is over 1000.  BTW it was also mentioned that a number of the applications has some sort of problem (correction required)  Aloha!

So it seems that the ones that need to be corrected are holding up the ones that are perfect with all the t's crossed and the i's dotted?

I wonder how long it takes for those applications that are perfect with no need for corrections.  Anybody know?

I keep thinking of a forum member who posted here that HPD contacted him to "clarify" something or something about a signature needed on a form when according to him everything seems to be in order.

Did that cause his application to go to the bottom of the pile?

Bottom line:  You get it (license) when you get it.  Doesn't seem right but it is the reality in the banana republik of Hawaii.

Finally got mine, took about 4 months. It seems like if you’re lucky you’ll get it in 3 months and if you’re unlucky it’ll be 5+ months.

My paperwork did need multiple corrections which were spotted at different times during the review process, not sure why it wasn’t caught all at once but as someone else mentioned on the forum, triple check all your paperwork when dropping it off.

Also remember to bring exact change because they don’t take card, won’t make change, and won’t keep the extra.

In my buddy's case, since letter was registered/certified, USPS said he needed to sign.  His wife couldn't sign  :grrr: .  So he had to go to the post office to pick it up.

In any case, hope things work out well and smoothly for you.

my letters were also certified.  so I had to sign for it.  USPS delivery guy told my dad he would bring it the next day at 1030, he came at 1230.  better late than never
but he did leave a notice saying it was attempted 1 time for delivery and it is certified mail that needed my signature, so I knew to stay home and wait for it

So much humbug just to exercise our rights.  But very happy for those who stuck it out and now hold CCW licenses.

I applied (for the second time, with the new requirements) in mid-February. Just got my SECOND call (four months apart) from HPD to clarify and correct my application. 🙄

What type of corrections? They said I needed a copy of my driver’s license (which I did submit at the time) and I needed to sign my pistol permit.

Also, at the time of submission, the officer went over everything very carefully, said everything was good. Took 3 months, AND me asking, for them to come up with an issue.

This is pure infringement.

Didn’t the SCOTUS say that these permits need to be issued in a “reasonable timeframe”?  What is the legal definition of reasonable. By any normal person’s standards, I’d say this is beyond unreasonable.
