What type of corrections? They said I needed a copy of my driver’s license (which I did submit at the time) and I needed to sign my pistol permit.

Also, at the time of submission, the officer went over everything very carefully, said everything was good. Took 3 months, AND me asking, for them to come up with an issue.

This is pure infringement.

Didn’t the SCOTUS say that these permits need to be issued in a “reasonable timeframe”?  What is the legal definition of reasonable. By any normal person’s standards, I’d say this is beyond unreasonable.

Supposedly wrong date on HIPAA form, asked if my passport number really started with a “Y” (yes… yes it does), asked if I was born where I said I was born (I don’t personally remember, but that’s what it says on my birth certificate 🙄).  A little ridiculous.

I agree. Sent complaints to my city council members, mayor, and HP commission. See where that goes.

Probably nowhere fast, but makes me feel better.

Hope some groups challenge the carry permit as unconstitutional. Bruen decision, by my logic, renders carry permits unconstitutional. IMO

Wait till next year, apps that take longer than 120 days are automatically denied and no refund of the new fee of $150 per app. So 2 guns, that's $300. Then another $300 to resubmit.

I have zero confidence in HPD, they will use the "you forgot to mark X" as a justification to exceed the 120 day period. "It's not our fault, the app was incomplete/errors".

$150 per CCW!  WOW...Even my UTAH one that works in a "bunch" of states is less then that and good for 5 yrs. What model did they case their CCW on...Oh yeah!  NONE!.  Just more RESTRICTIONS!

BTW i guess i was fortunate that my application that was submitted in Feburary was Granted in Late April.  There was ONE correction that was needed and was done Verbally.... Good Luck!

If the law states that after 120 days the application is automatically denied, then HPD should not start the waiting period until the application is complete and in order.  Once deemed so, some sort of a receipt type of document should be given to the applicant and the date when the waiting period starts.

Otherwise HPD can make up all kinds of excuses and the whole process degrades into a dog and pony show.  Hawaii government and HPD can be asshats at times and would stoop to this level.  It's childish if they allow this to happen.

But sadly it wouldn't surprise me one bit but it is wrong.  Just wrong.  Even for an anti-2a government and state.

Just received a call from one of the officers handling my paperwork, told me that my handgun affidavit was notarized before the date I took the class. So I have to get an updated affidavit and turn it in. This was after waiting 4 months since the last time I was contacted. Hopefully I dont get put back in the bottom of the pile now.

Is anyone (HRA, HIFICO, etc.) taking these details of delays and paperwork snafus for possible action?  Lawsuit, strongly worded letter to the police commission, etc?

How many times have you applied for a permit with that same handgun affidavit?  Seems like the pistol affidavit dates would have been caught when you got your pistol permit(s), not just when you applied for a CCL.

Maybe they didn't care, because they weren't trying to deny you a permit.  Seems like they are going above and beyond to find any reason they can to delay and deny Licenses.

All of these posts remind me of an animated movie I saw a while back.  The main character was a female rabbit and I think a fox was her nemisis.

Anyway, they both went to City Hall to do something and the clerk was a sloth.  So funny how slow the sloth reacted to their questions and demands.

HPD has a sloth working in the CCW department.

No, cause the sloth was just slow. Hpd is looking for reasons to delay/deny. And purposly delaying.

Since u dont have to show it to them, u might assume ur approved if u have the USPS notification and not expecting anything else from the c&c.

I purchased 2 handguns so far with the affidavit and I am picking up my PTA on Wednesday for another handgun. So yeah all this time they did not notice the discrepancy and they probably would never have if I didnt apply for the CCL.

Similar experience, they changed the wording requirement on the affidavits after I had already provided it and told me I needed to get a new one because it didn’t meet the new criteria almost 3 months after I initially submitted my paperwork.

Thanks for that info.

Confirms my suspicion that they are applying different (more picky) standards to the processing of CCL applications than for any other firearm-related "service."

No lawsuit for that in the short term.  There are many other things on the list to go after, and it costs a lot of time and money for each.  New prohibited persons, other sensitive places, rights waivers, etc.  It would be difficult to win in the 9th circuit at this time.

Picked up my 2 permits today
I was 3rd in line. Took nearly 1 hour to get out out of there
Line moves slowly
Then I carried for the rest of the day to test the feel of it
