i think there's a difference between amnesty and "no questions asked/no ID required."

Amnesty means you will not be charged with a crime even if it's found out later you committed one covered by the amnesty.

'No questions asked/no ID required" just means anonymity is provided.  You won't be forced to violate your 4th or 5th amendment rights if you turn in a gun, even if it would implicate you in a crime.

However, since there's no amnesty under the program, you can still be charged with crimes associated with the gun if evidence is obtained separately and independently of you having the gun to be turned in.

That's my understanding, anyway.
Correct.

Who owns your uncle's guns now?

Are they that well off that they don't mind flushing hundreds or thousands of dollars down the toilet?

Just curious.  People are free to do what they want with their property, but I hate seeing someone taken advantage of.  $100 for most guns and $200 for semi-auto rifles, "ghost guns", and "automatics of any type" ??.  Unless they are rusted out lumps of junk, they should have much more value than that.

This event is perfect if you have an old rusted out Marlin semi-auto Model 60.  Strip the parts and turn in for $200

Although unofficial word is you are allowed to do this, you will be breaking HI law about possessing the handgun since you aren't the owner.

SSH removed the flyer since there was a mistake about the location on it.

No questions asked, remember.  I make it easier.  I will buy pre 64 Winchester rifles that have not been registered for $250 each.

Location changed to Kinau Hale (DOH). 1250 Punchbowl.  NOT THE STATE CAPITOL.

Flapp,

It's back on SSH FB page.

New locaiton sucks. Although it is an empty parking lot since the DOH and marriage registry moved, to get into the parking lot is much more difficult than the U area in front the capitol.  I mean, even having it infront HPD and blocking 1 lane where all the 4runners park. Maybe they no like walk.

FB post from the owner of SSH

"Aloha everyone,
In an effort to combat the recent spate of gun violence, City, State and Federal Law Enforcement agencies along with the support of the Office of the Govenor are offering a Gun Buyback program. This effort is targeted at removing illegally obtained firearms as well as unwanted guns that may have been left in the care of a relative by the passing of a loved one, just as examples.
To be clear, this effort is not targeted at law-abiding, 2nd amendment supporting gun owners. It is not politically motivated and although there may be debate on the efficacy of such efforts, SSH is not the place to do so. This is simply an effort and an opportunity to remove firearms that may have been obtained illegally through burglaries or crime. No questions asked, no identification required.
Therefore, please, leave your political commentary out of this thread. If you'd like to discuss it, then you can do so on your own profile, other groups or in SSHOT. This post is informational only in nature. Also, leave your negativity at the door. I will moderate anyone who chooses to violate our house rules. I am also not here to be your punching bag on this issue.
To be clear, I'm a retired Combat Arms instructor/military law enforcement and a strong supporter of our 2nd amendment. I wouldn't push anything I felt uncomfortable about when it comes to our rights to bear arms. So leave the grief for someone else. The last share of this was disgusting and I'm in no mood to play around.
Some tidbits from my inquiries yesterday:
Law enforcement will run all serial numbers. If the firearm is reported stolen, notification to the legal owner will be made and will be returned as long as they are legally able to possess the firearm.
Firearm must be complete.
Gift cards will be to a major local grocery retailer.
Amnesty will be given. No questions, asked, no names need to be given, no identification needed.
Participation is strictly voluntary. You can have a mother, father, aunty, uncle or a friend safely turn a gun in.
Free gun locks will also be offered at the mentioned sites.
If you have questions, please feel free and I will inquire with my contacts.
Mahalo."
