Perhaps a topic already discussed, but I am in the dark about the NRA discontinuing the Basic Pistol Course.  The NRA instructors portal says this course is no longer available after 5/15/16, and there does not appear to be the student training packets available for order in the online store.  The note on the site says something about the course is replaced by a Part 1 and Part 2 pistol course.

Not to beat a  deadhorse, but to keep the focus of disgust/frustration, if any, directed toward the cause of the danger to the public... the cop did not draw his gun, just put his hand on it.  Again, just for the sake of arguement, it is an open carry training when dealing with unknown people approaching you, or at the beginning of a possible crowd control or whatever, to turn your hip (holster side) away from the approaching person(s) and additionally place your hand over your firearm to protect from anyones access to it, and if the situation escalates, for your ability to already have one hand where it needs to be .  The part about the guy being "elderly" we seem to assume he is "weak and feable", but I know plenty "elderly" guys who are tough and mean, SOBs with more attitude than when they was in their 20's, no joking and they pretty much talk and say whatever they like to whoever they like. Again, not saying this was the case, but just providing another possiblity.  Just think of the other extreme, the LEO starts to nicely have conversations (talk story) with everyone who walks up to him about what is going on, which he himself at the time probably has only limited information, and someone walking around waiting for their turn to talk to the officer, gets hit by a stray bullet, fired by the guy in the house down the street, which from a rifle can easily travel over a mile away, again lucky this was not the case. As the saying goes, "hindsight is 2020" now that we have the outcome it is easy to judge the "should have could have".  At the time the LEO's method, no matter how crude, rude and unacceptable in the world of polite, kept everyone in their car, and now that all is safe and we know more than before they can report what he said and the situation addressed now that the danger is gone.  I'm pretty sure if you ask anyone who has been "under fire" all kinds of descriptive words are used and mixed in as a part of the intended communications no matter how much you train....

If all that we read is true, and there was a guy firing a rifle in a residential community, and no one really knew why or what the gunman was going to do, the LEOs would be under a lot of stress, standing out there while they wait and see what the suspect was planning.  Make no mistake, as I am not saying it is ok to "speak sternly" to someone asking a simple question, if that is all that the guy really said and in what tone or postering, but should consider the entire situation and the fact that no one is perfect.  The bottom line, the LEO needed the guy back in his vehicle and used just one additional word to convey a very clear direction and sense of seriousness and urgency.  Needles to say, the guy probably went back into his vehicle with no further questions as it was probably not a time to be standing around talking story.  Thank God no one was hurt

The thing that kinda stinks is that we all know the only reason they were willing to retutrn the stuff is that the camera took some pretty good pictures which were shown on the news and printed in the newspaper.  If the camera did not photograph them in the act of commiting a crime, you think they'd still be returning the stuff?  If you follow that logic, maybe banks should invest in better cameras with higher resoltuion.

For Archery only though.

All solid firearms, but if you going to run them till they stop firing you will need a ton of ammo. After watching countless videos, magazine and internet articles over the years for similar tests, to find absolute failure, you will have to expand your test beyond just firing ammo, like burying it, firing it underwater, running it over with a truck, etc.. and any other creatively destructive act you can imagine to find enough flaw for failure to make a sound assessment. Save your ammo,(although shooting a ton of ammo thru these will be more fun than I could begin to imagine and you will need plastic surgery to remove your smiles) its a tie unless you intend to destroy the firearm to reach a solid conclusion.  If not then I venture the winner to be the Glock, unless you set it on fire and destroy the frame, then I think the SIG

I can't seem to "easily" find anything regarding the maximum number of rounds you are allowed to have in your shotgun in Hawaii.  I have heard conflicting data from different people and was just wondering if someone could direct me to the law, if any, which addresses this.

Wow, that's big news.  Had no idea, the investigations had to be going on for many years before it got to this point, perhaps that was the reason for his disposition in the shop, he must have been going thru a lot.  In any case unfortunate and somewhat tragic for our 2A community...

Just wanted to chime back in if everything is again copacetic at KHSC.  Was the detailed explanation posted already, or are we to draw it out from the numerous postings? or it is a moot point as the pursuit of other rights, concealed carry in particular, trumps the other issues and again the Government is to blame by taking away our rights?  This tread has gotten somewhat confusing as the posts seem to assume everyone knows what is going on and the people involved, but as far as I know, there still are no night matches and there are bits of information as to what had transpired to ban the use of the range at night. I again appologize for my ignorance or inability to either read between the lines or be a part of the group who are "in the know". In my humble opinion, we talk a lot about the ideals of being unified in our thought, but as far as I can tell there exists a community of people who perhaps share a unified thought and then there exists the rest of us, who for whatever reason at times have no idea what you guys are talking about or reffering to.  Maybe it is our fault for either not being involved or understanding the issues or rights that are being reffered to, thus there are no "simple answers". I again mean no disrespect for my commentary, however as far as I can tell from this tread, the end of the nighttime range use was due inpart to the pursuit of concealed carry in Hawaii and somehow, it was determined (by whom I don't know) that the KHSC was conducting discriminatory practices to the public and a lawsuit was drafted and threatened to the head range master at KHSC, but now, Funtimes met with the guy and all is supposed to be back to business with no discriminatory practices, so all is good?  The end result is KHSC will correct its policy and the night matches will resume?  If this is accurate, then I guess this is the end of this tread. Or again if it is something else that will be revealed when those involved feel it is appropriate, then I guess it is again time to exercise patience and understanding for those who are fighting for our rights?.
