You're the cause of the spread due to not correcting peoples mask.

Since wearing a mask proper-side-out protects others from infection but not necessarily the wearer, doesn't it make sense that wearing it backwards would protect the wearer instead?   :geekdanc:

Or to follow the CDC guidelines:

No one in the general public needs to wear a mask.

Masks can provide a false sense of security.

Masks protect both the wearer and others if the wearer is infected.

Masks do not protect the wearer from becoming infected, only other people around an infected mask wearer.

Masks protect both the wearer from becoming infected and others from being infected by a mask wearing infected person.

Choose one of the above.

Or wait until next month to see what the CDC unscientific bullshit will be then.

But, but, but it's OK because new info comes out all the time since CV is new. (sarcasm)

More and more slowly eeking out re the coming social credit scoring/surveillance... as if anyone watching, not including the mindless sheeple of course,  didn't know that's the whole thing from the start...

https://justthenews.com/politics-policy/health/americans-may-need-covid-vaccine-passport-travel-2021

Travelers may need a COVID vaccine passport to travel in 2021

Credentials could also be required to enter concert venues, stadiums, movie theaters, offices.

Travelers may need to show proof that they have taken the COVID-19 vaccine in order to travel in 2021.

"Several companies and technology groups have begun developing smartphone apps or systems for individuals to upload details of their COVID-19 tests and vaccinations, creating digital credentials that could be shown in order to enter concert venues, stadiums, movie theaters, offices, or even countries," CBS-Miami reported.

"The Common Trust Network, an initiative by Geneva-based nonprofit The Commons Project and the World Economic Forum, has partnered with several airlines including Cathay Pacific, JetBlue, Lufthansa, Swiss Airlines, United Airlines and Virgin Atlantic, as well as hundreds of health systems across the United States and the government of Aruba," the station reported.

Thomas Crampton, chief marketing and communications officer for The Commons Project, told CNN Business that a simple and easily transferable set of credentials, or a "digital yellow card," could be the answer.

Last week, a former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said "immunity passports" for Americans to prove they have taken the COVID-19 vaccine might help the country get "back to a new normal." [aka surveillance police state]

Right on cue, from this morning's Hawaii Tribune-Herald. Now the blind and deaf (to reality) sheeple will be able to voluntarily [at the moment] let the government track their every location 24/7. Nothing nefarious is possible. It's fine.
Luckily, we that do not bother with smartphones are invisible.

I understand there’s a difference. No need to be condescending, I’m not an idiot. What I’m trying to say is I assume there should be a standard for an “acceptable amount of spread.” If cloth masks are within that standard then they should be ok for everyone including hospital and frontline workers. That is what I meant by either effective or not. Therefore your “ not as effective” statement is irrelevant.

My mistake, I have had discussions with others who believe that other types of masks (non N95/surgery) were not effective. I thought you were taking that angle.

You do have a point though, they could implement a standard for homemade masks. Something like saying it has to have 2 layers of fabric, cover mouth and nose, etc etc.

That's an excuse for their failure to not have enough.  And for who ever is in charge of production at mask facilities like 3M. Who's gonna turn down making way more money due to the demand?  Like I said, these are huge companies and it's someones job to keep tabs on stuff going on that may affect them.

Taiwan makes about 20 million surgical type mask a day at it's high point since the virus started.  They give these for free to the citizens who need them, which are many. 2 per week last I heard.  They have 24 million people.  They were watching China from as early as October.  They were prepared.  So it was someones job to keep tabs of the world issues like this and they were doing that job.

I have a friend who wanted to bring in a mask machine for personal usage, not retail.  It cost about $40,000.  Hawaii denied him a permit to operate the machine, even if only for personal usage.  So he couldn't bring it in.  This was in December/Jan.  He also keeps tabs on China.

There has been talk about making sure that we have American producers who can produce these supplies so we don't run into the same issues again. That seems like a good suggestion to me, though it would come with an increase in medical costs. I do think this is a big wake up call that we need to refrain from outsourcing too much overseas.

Hawaii denied him a permit to bring in a machine? That sounds odd, can't imagine why he would need a permit to bring in equipment, unless it contained some hazardous substance? I am curious about this though it is off topic so we don't need to go deeper.

Apparently some of the lying moron scum here are still claiming that "cloth face coverings" prevent the transmission of viruses.

I challenge them to present the RCTs (Randomized Controlled Trials) proving that hypothesis.

They won't, because there aren't any.

There are numerous RCTs that conclude that masks of all kinds, not just the "cloth face coverings" DO NOT prevent viral transmission. I've posted several of those above, including the CDC website systematic review of 12 RCTs coming to that very conclusion.

All their "evidence" is garbage hypotheticals based on "modeling", "laboratory analysis", etc. The only "testing" that matters is real world RCTs. Put up or shut up. Like that could happen.

They have done real world tests comparing different types of masks in their effectiveness at reducing the spread of respiratory droplets. The virus travels through these droplets. Different types of masks show different levels of reduction in the number and distance of spread of these droplets. I have posted them before but I can post them again if you like.

And yet despite all the best evidence (not suppressed by the media), cases continue to spike in places that are locked down and masked up. At some point I suspect the remaining cultists are going to get tired of being wrong about everting enough times to start questioning their reliance on propaganda as an information source, but not holding my breath.

And there are also places where masking and locking down have worked very well. I don't know why they worked in some areas but didn't work in others but there is not enough to simply say masks don't work because some big liberal city got hit badly despite having mask mandates.
