Link to Merriam-Webster definition of UTMOST

Other than that, I agree!

General Discussion / NRA dues increase
« on: March 03, 2016, 05:09:50 AM »
Dues go up at midnight on March 5th.
Now would be a good time to join, renew or extend your NRA membership at www.NRA2016.org
Lifetime NRA membership costs $500 now. After the deadline, it'll be more.

General Discussion / NRA Instructor classes question
« on: February 22, 2016, 08:37:14 AM »
I'm interested in NRA Instructor classes.

Questions:
  • I've taken the handgun safety training course required by the state of Hawaii. Is that sufficient prerequisite to take the NRA Instructor Pistol Shooting Course? Or should I acquire more knowledge/experience before attempting to take the class?
  • I sent an email to LIFE but never heard back. It's been nearly a month. Is there a better way to contact LIFE?
  • Who else offers the NRA Instructor courses?

Thanks in advance.

I got my NV permit mailed to me only 17 days after submitting the paperwork at the Sheriff's Office in Pahrump.
Wow, I thought I was the only person who's ever been to Pahrump! Home of Art Bell, Coast to Coast radio show!

I subscribe to the "standard HPD ammo" advice too.
What is the standard HPD ammo?

My decision to switch to Verizon was based heavily on RootMetrics report.
Here's a link to the report for Honolulu: http://www.rootmetrics.com/us/rsr/honolulu-hi/2015/2H

I moved from Sprint to Verizon about a year ago. Have been very happy with Verizon speed and coverage.
Sprint is THE WORST CARRIER EVER! Abysmally slow.

General Discussion / "Enclosed container" as defined in HRS 134-25
« on: January 26, 2016, 03:27:21 PM »
HRS 134-25 says:
Quote
"Enclosed container" means a rigidly constructed receptacle, or a commercially manufactured gun case, or the equivalent thereof that completely encloses the firearm.
My question: Does a range bag qualify as an "enclosed container"? In particular, I own this range bag: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00O49WP60/?tag=2ahawaii-20
Does that qualify as an "enclosed container"?

Thanks in advance.

General Discussion / Re: Anyone see this?

I'd be interested to know if HPD would issue the victim a CCW permit. Or would they say No because the accused was Not Guilty.

Thanks to drck1000 and mauidog, I'm gonna price out a Colt LE6920-OEM2. Any suggestion on a good LGS with competitive pricing?

For a first AR, I would highly recommend a basic one and lots of ammo to shoot and learn the gun.  When I bought my first AR, I had a whole list of things that I wanted to add, modify, etc.  Many of the things that I bought ended up in my box of spare parts and other things never materialized.  My perception of what is "needed" on the gun and what I wanted changed over time, particularly with shooting the gun on the range and in carbine classes.
Thanks for the input, drck1000. If I decide to buy a basic first gun, would a Colt 6940 fit the bill, at least until I figure out what I really want?
