I carry the VP9 in Vegas and since it's only a week, it's fine. But for an EDC, I would want something smaller.
Looking at a G43X or Shield Plus due to the size and being able to carry 10rds.
I have a Smith and Wesson M&P9C that I would carry until I get to know what I want. I want to buy once cry once. The reason why I'm not a fan of the 9C is because without the extended mag, the pinky hangs off. Not too much of an issue, but reloading takes a bigger break in the grip. So when you eject the mag, now the pinky hanging is noticable. Plus with the mag blocked, it cannot hold 10rds, but only 9 because the 10th round doesn't allow the mag to fit into a closed slide. This is the case for all 5 factory 10rd mags that I got from S&W.
Not a fan of the SIG 365 as the angle I don't like and the mush trigger.
-
Fyi, 15rnd Shield mags for the Glock 43x/48 are hit and miss. Some work. Some have severe jamming issues.
-
In before "I own no firearms or loading supplies."
As usual, the answer is "It depends."
I'd carry my Glock 26 in most situations. My S&W 9mm Shield is also a nice option, even if it holds fewer rounds.
At some point, when I have the opportunity to compare the different Sig P365 models, I'll likely buy one of those.
My Ruger SP101 5-shot .357 Mag, probably in an ankle holster, backpack or fanny pack as a backup. I'll probably rotate it into primary carry, depending on the situation.
If traveling where I can wear a jacket or vest, I'd prefer a full size, like my Sig P226 or G17. I sold my P320, but I plan to replace it with an upgraded model eventually, possibly with an RDS.
I have a G30 .45ACP, so that's on the list of options, too.
It it's a SHTF scenario, then "All of the above." :geekdanc:
-
i would choose either the Glock 43X or the Sig P365XL both of which i alredy own.
Have a Nice Day!
Aloha!

CCW--probably a LW pocket rocket of some sort (airweight J frame, Beretta 21, Keltec .32 comes to mind)--compatible with t shirt & shorts EDW.
Open carry??? probably wouldn't
-
G19 - Open carry or CC
Hellcat - OC or CC
P365 - OC or CC
Ruger LCR 38sp - CC
Colt Cobra 38sp - OC or CC
Ruger GP100 357mag - OC
S&W 627 PC 357mag 8 rounds - OC
-
My Wisconsin carry guns are either a Bersa Thunder 380 CC or a Kahr P380. Since we'll likely have to pick one it'd be the Bersa since it's easier to shoot even though it's larger and heavier and thus less pleasant to carry.
-
Here's a helpful tool for you guys to compare pistol sizes. https://www.handgunhero.com/
-
G19 - Open carry or CC
Hellcat - OC or CC
P365 - OC or CC
Ruger LCR 38sp - CC
Colt Cobra 38sp - OC or CC
Ruger GP100 357mag - OC
S&W 627 PC 357mag 8 rounds - OC
if we have to choose 1, then I would choose either the G19 or Hellcat.
either one can co-witness iron sights with the RDS. I like the Holosun optic on the Glock better than the Hex Wasp on the Hellcat, but I like the night sights on the Hellcat better than the Trijicon night sights on the Glock.
Glock feels better shooting, but the Hellcat is smaller and feels better carrying. I can reload mags better in the Glock bc its bigger, easier to eject mags in the Glock
overall I like the Glock better, but the Hellcat is smaller but still shoots pretty good. I prefer the Hellcat over the Sig P365. trigger feels more tactile and crisper and can eject the mag better in the Hellcat vs the Sig, I don't have to adjust my grip bc the mag release sticks out a little more on the Hellcat and my pinky doesn't get in the way like it does on the Sig. but I still like the Sig bc has the manual safety and I feel better with pocket carry this way
tough decision. nice to have good options to choose from

Shouldn’t this be a Glock 21 since that’s chambered in .45?

The problem is that the G.K. Young vs. HI case will be sent to a lower court, and the state will try to craft new arguments. At the same time, they may make a CCW permit specific to a single registered weapon that you use for the "qualification" test. The Supreme Court eventually will overrule this obstructionist requirement. The outcome will be: only a single test is required. Whether the state will then force periodic license renewal tests is unknown. Thus, my first CCW gun choice will be a .22LR semi-automatic pistol. This is the easiest choice for most distance/accuracy tests.
At the other end of the spectrum, how about a 500 Magnum? This would need a special chest holster, but would scare the heck out of any perp who would threaten your life.

We have 25 states (and counting) with permit-less carry of firearms. No permit/license application process, no training classes, and no tests.
That's half the states for those not keeping track! :D
The trend has been for states to adopt permit-less or Constitutional carry, not to make getting permission to carry more inconvenient.
The generally accepted premise is, if you can legally own a firearm, you should not be prohibited from carrying it in public. Personal responsibility keeps the majority of gun owners safe and proficient -- much more than a day of classroom training and a 30 rd live fire test ever will.
Just saying....

I've narrowed it down pending actually shooting the guns.
1) S&W Shield Plus
2) G43X
3) SIG P365X
This will be for my AIWB for work when I wear a polo shirt tucked into slacks. Tier1 Concealed makes a good holster with ULTI clips which allow the shirt tucking. Because of this reason, the gun has to be thin. So the CR920 is out. For un-tucked aloha shirt and slacks, it will be anything I want, even the VP9 as I will carry at the 4 o'clock IWB location.
Reason why the 365X is back in the running is the size/thinness. Since this will be holstered 99.9999% of the time, size is a factor due to the above.
P365X
Pros:
Tacticool
Pinky doesnt hang off grip
Good sights
Cons
Price (most expensive of the 3)
No bladed trigger
Trigger might be mush if it's like the P365
G43X
Pros
Pinky doesnt hang off
Price
Trigger safety
Cons
Trigger is hit or miss
Sights suck
Shield Plus
Pros:
Price
Trigger is nice
Trigger safety
Cons:
Pinky might hang off without extended mag
Not tacticool
But in the end, it might be what's available at the time. I have a M&P 9C which is like a thicker Shield, which I can make due with until I get what I want. This is Mrs. CMO's gun though that she first bought. It has an Apex trigger.

Don't overthink it.
Pick something reliable and practice a lot with it
Don't be switching around. You have to develop muscle memory.

Once I choose, I'm gonna stick with what I buy and learn to shoot it. So I really think it might come down to what I can get my hands on first.GB has all models for sale at reasonable price. But I wanna support LGS first. Give them first draft choice.
-
recently got the P365 and Hellcat
I like the Hellcat better so far. although the P365 isn't bad at all
trigger is crisper with more tactile reset on the Hellcat
front sight is a bigger and brighter night sight on the Hellcat. more visible in daylight too. I like the U shape rear sight, although the rear sight is not a night sight but as long as the front is that is good enough in my book
I can eject the mag easier on the Hellcat whereas the P365 I have to adjust my grip so my pinky gets off the mag so it drops free. the Hellcat I don't have to adjust my grip nearly as much to drop the mag free
other than that, they are pretty much very similar

my top 3: G19, Hellcat, P365
G19 good for all around carry day or night. Hellcat is smaller than the G19, lighter, better for all day carry but no light but can add a light if I want to. SigP365 has no light or optic but I don't think that matters too much, can add a light if I want. but I like how the Hellcat feels and shoots better than the P365, mostly bc of the trigger and mag release. the P365 I could use for HD gun and that would work very well, although for a carry gun it would work well too.
I wish we could choose more than 1 gun to carry. but these are my top 3 right now (I can change each holster from paddle to belt loop easily or any G code or Tek Lok attachment)

If they allow CCW then my P365.
Also was thinking of my Walther P22.
But if they only allow open carry I'm still on the fence. (As far as if I would carry a firearm.)

Have you compared any of the other variants from the P365 line?
I tried to list the 9mm variants from the Sig website. Hopefully I got it right:
P365:
Standard
Micro-Compact
SAS
P365X:
Standard
Born & Raised
RomeoZero
P365XL:
Standard
RomeoZero
Spectre
Spectre Comp

Here's a little easier breakdown
P365 (OG)
They also make the SAS version which only effects the sights, the sights are flush with the slide.
Grip is shorter (pinky hangs off)
P365XL
Bigger grip (longer) than the OG one, so pinky doesnt hang off
Barrel and slide are longer
Trigger is different (not curved like the OG one)
P365X
Has the P365XL frame, but the P365 slide. So more to grip (pinky doesn't hang off) and OG slide.
Trigger is like the P365XL
Why the X is in the running and not the OG one is the grip is bigger on the X and Im hoping the trigger is much better.

What I've liked about Sig is their constant focus on ergonomics. My 1911 Fastback Nightmare had many improvements over a standard 1911 that just made the gun fit your hand and easier to shoot.
Once the consumers decide which P365 variants are the best, some of them are likely to be retired and replaced with even more improved variants IMO. That's one big reason I've been putting off buying one now. Plus, I have a couple of other carry options, so no need to spend the cash right away (priorities).
I was looking more for someone's personal comparison between the variants with likes and dislikes, not a list of technical differences. But, every little bit of info helps!

I have not tried any other P365 variant other than the standard one. so my experience is very limited. I'll have to try some of the other 365 variants, but I'm afraid I might like them and buy more pistols. ;)
I have shot my friends P320 X5 Legion, and that trigger is very nice! but kind of big to conceal, but a very good pistol maybe for open carry

My only XP with the P365 is the OG one. The trigger is mush, like the P320 triggers. And my grip is thumbs forward, so my support thumb is like 1/2 inch from the front of the barrel. This doesn't cause any harm, but a little too close for comfort, especially under stress where the thumb may be even more close toward the front of the barrel. Training can solve this though. But at the time of me shooting it, training on this model was 0. But when shooting the gun, I don't notice the mush, only when dry firing.

It gotta be handgun?

I hope we can use multiple firearms for carry
if we can then these would be my secondary carry options. you know me, revolvers of course!!! :shaka: :shaka:
from top right going clockwise: Colt Cobra 38sp, Ruger LCR 38sp, Ruger GP100 357, S&W 627 PC 357 (8 rounds)
for times when you need a small revolver or when you need something that hits harder than the usual pistol

For CCW Glock 48 and 43
For open carry Glock 40, 10mm long slide.

Im hoping they change it to any handgun. But we know HI will make it as difficult as possible. So apply for all handguns u own, but downside is passport photos aint cheap. Might look into printing my own. Cost per photo is like $1 vs. $7.50 ($15 for a set)

Why premature? Carry is allowed in HI under certain circumstances and enviroments.
If you are looking at one CCW for every day, everything and everywhere, why limit yourself to 10 rounds? I carry 36 rounds on person in the freedom states and moore in the vehicle or bag. If HI ever allows carry, you can get 10 rounds mag for your "normal size" firearm. Why go sub compact? If you carry often, you will learn really quick the benefits of a high quality holster and taking the time to adjust it to you. A proper belt, adjusting the angle and position in which you carry as weil as accessories like Tier ! Concealed Wedges will make a huge difference in comfort as well as help with printing. Cheap is never good, good is never cheap....
One week of carry once in awhile won't teach you much. You need to try different things for many many many hours.
-
John Correia from ASP did research in capacity and reloads in civilian (non LE) encounters. Reloads are extremely rarely needed, less than 0.1% so greater mag capacity is more important. Can't wait for our mag ban to go away. That's why I switched to the Glock 48 w shield mags for the 15 round capacity as a daily carry. Originally I had a Glock 43 w 7 round mags. Going to use that for deep concealment and when I go jogging. My Glock 40 10mm is for hiking on the mainland
I learned that SIG P320 10 round mags can be easily converted by simply grinding down a nub inside. That tip will save me a couple hundred dollars in the future.

yups. I've learned a lot since first carrying a taser so same applies to handgun.

I went budget at first because the time spent carrying didn't justify the cost but I've learned a quality holster along with spending the time to adjust and tune it to you makes a huge difference. I have a lot of CCW holsters and have settled on AIWB piggy back mag style and I have 3 that i use. Last Line Of Defense the most comfortable, T-Rex Arms Sidecar 1.0 next, T-Rex Arms 2.0 the least comfy. I will say the 2.0 has a WML, RDS and more ammo capacity so not really comparing apples to apples. I would buy another LLOD Associate but they don't make one for the new carry.

I watch his channel often. Not for his comments nor tactics but just to see real life surveillance footage. It's surprising how many rounds get shot in a lot of his videos. I agree speed reload for a civilian not very likely but I can see a tactical reload happening often. I always want my gas tank full if I have the time and opportunity. Big thing is who's to say it's only one bad guy too. I'm a Boy Scout, I'd rather be prepared. To compliment the CCW, I'd want a carbine RTG in the trunk of my vehicle as well

Many pistol magazines are similar. Sig P320 mags are expensive but they're good. The 21 rnd is a good backup mag but heavy if that's an issue
-
Originally I had a Glock 43 w 7 round mags. Going to use that for deep concealment and when I go jogging.
I had a 43 with Taran Tactical Extensions and yes it conceals very well. The sub compacts are just too thin for me to get a solid master grip and I have smaller oriental size hands. I chose to go compacts because if I can't get a good master grip, the accuracy and speed will suffer. That I can not except if my love ones lives are on the line. I can not imagine riding MTB with my current carry though. Riding jumps, rock gardens, roots, etc... I don't know how I would do that so I can see the benefit of a light smaller weapon. Too late I don't have the 43 anymore :D
-
There are so many options and each has it's pros/cons. So what I will do is give my LGS a list of what I want and which ever one they can bring in first is what I will carry for days I wear polo shirt and slacks tucked in.
The finalist are:
SIG P365X
Smith and Wesson Shield Plus
Glock 43X
And the Tier1 Concealed Agis holster with sidecar, they make for all 3 models. Once HPD is issuing permits, I will put my order in. Planning on giving David at DCT first dibs. Also I will not add a RDS on this carry gun.

Tactical reloads are never done in civilian defensive encounters. Never out of the tens of thousands of incidents. Some classes don't teach tactical reloads anymore since they're not used for CCW and instead teach speed/emergency reloads instead.
Law enforcement/combat scenarios are a little different in that a lot more rounds are fired for those.
-
There's a ton of misinformation that gets spread on the internet daily, especially about carrying. This video is good about kit, thing like belts and holsters and the whys and hows.

CMO, you can skip the portion about RDS. T1C Axis Slim has been on the watchlist for awhile.

I don't recommend the sidecar holsters. I saw recommendations against sidecars and bought a Tier 1 anyways. It limits where you position your holster and is a very minor tad bit more uncomfortable to wear.
I recommend just putting the spare magazine in a pocket.

When you live in a place that outlaws standard capacity mags, it's prudent to practice and be prepared to perform tactical reloads.
I'd rather have one in the chamber when I drop the mag for a reload than have an empty chamber and locked back slide.
Of course, what I'm thinking now might go out the window in the adrenaline-drenched events as they unfold.

I too thought this as well, but ASP has reviewed thousands of vids and have yet to see any kind of reload or maybe like 1 of thousands. And the most rounds fired in a vid was like 8. But the average from all the vids they reviewed is about 5-7. He had a vid about this a year ago or so. Guess no one used a G43 that only carries 6 rounds.
I'm sure there are people out there who had to do some kind of reload, but ASP reviewing thousands over the years would be a good source of info if you don't want to go looking for yourself. The hard part is that the vids often don't go into what kind of training the good guy had. Only seldomly is he able to interview the good guy as well. If it were me, tact reload would be on my mind as a thing to do once all threats are neutralized.
Even BJ Baldwin who went 10 for 10 hits didn't reload (he probably had a 15rd mag since this is Vegas). He got in his car and dug out asap because he didn't know if there were more people. He drove like a mad man to his brothers home on a flat tire.
Going off topic here, but even the quick "scanning" left to right is BS. People do it way too fast for their brain to even pick up what they're looking at. John Lovell (Warrior Poet) explained this. He has a phrase he says. Scan left and say "Does anybody else want to play". THen scan right and repeat "does anybody else want to play". Then look behind left and say "Did he bring any friends". Then look behind right and say "Did he bring any friends". Then look back at the bad guy on the ground "Make sure he's still down". All said in a normal rate of speech. He states that this is the fastest his brain can scan/comprehend visuals. Anyone doing the half second left to right is just going thru the motions.
Of course this is 1 mans philosophy, but I did a drill with "scanning". You place various papers (8x11) around you on the wall with big numbers or letters on them in a random order. Have a friend call out a number/letter and you have to find it. It took me longer than the half second scanning of side to side for my brain to process the info. At 1 point a number was called and it took me like 20 seconds to find it. I thought he was screwing with me and that number wasn't posted. All this was done with the pistol at the ready position.
John also mentions tunnel vision. He did a class and spoke to a SWAT officer who responded to a shooter in a supermarket. The officer swears he pulled the trigger multiple times. But the guy didn't drop, nor did he hear any bang or flash or recoil of his AR. So he went behind concealment and did a malfunction check. When he peaked back up, the bad guy was on the ground dead. So this SWAT officer did fire his rifle multiple times, but tunnel vision set in and he didn't feel/hear anything. No one else shot the guy.

For my VP9 CCW, I don't have a side car, and I keep the mag on my belt with a stretchy thing KM Concepts made me. But if I did the same, I'm afraid my "bulge" will be 1 sided and with the side car, it would be more of an even bulge. No way of knowing until I try, which means more money spent on holsters for trial and error.
I already got too much stuff in my pockets so I want to avoid keeping a mag in there when a tucked in shirt shows the pockets more.

One aspect to watch out for the “scan and assess” is going through the motions in “training”. Becomes habit of jair going through motions to have completed the course of fire. Be purpose driven and why, vice “what I was told”.
-
...
Practicing to scan left, right and back forward again is a good thing. Tunnel vision will make you focus on the threat you see in front of you. Once you're sure the threat is stopped, at least stopped enough to give you a second or two, you do need to break out of that tunnel.
Even if you don't actually take the entire scene in as you scan, your peripheral vision will be able to catch movement telling you to realign your focus. Facing the first threat keeps you inside that tunnel.
I also thought the too-fast left-right scan at FS training was being ignored. They should have made the students count to 2 as their head turn stopped, just to give the brain time to catch up with what the eyes are seeing. The trainers should have corrected them, "You're not shaking your head 'No.' You're checking to see if you're really out of danger."

Yup, muscle memory is a thing. That's why during SB's I don't just do the drill to be the fastest, it's often I do it at what pace I would normally do it. The last HDF SB it was a combo. We did a square walking drill. Walk left and shoot 1 shot with rifle, then walk backward and shoot 1 shot with pistol, then walk right and 2 shots with rifle, then walk forward and 2 shots with pistol. Then walk left and 3 shots with rifle and so on until time runs out. I guy was wondering why after my 1 shots, I still held on the target and didn't just speed up my walk pace so I can do the next transition. I explained that I was working on keeping gun on target and the same speed, I wasn't trying to be the fasted to finish. Due to this, I didn't get the "cone". But I'm sure the guy who did earn the cone would have beaten me anyways. He is a very good shooter.

What you guys think of carrying a p-01??
was planning to make mines like this and carry....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBObqwOx6JY
gonna start practicing with the p-01, glock 43/43x (maybe add comps to either) and glock 48... i really like the slimmer profile on these :geekdanc:

Just got back from Vegas a few days ago. I brought up my 43x with a alien gear holster (appendix carry), along with a mag holder. Holster was very comfortable and concealed very nicely. I have to play dress up prior to flying up to make sure the shirts and the pants/shorts work with ccw. Maybe looking into Glock26 for another ccw gun.
Beer belly helps in hiding the gun while carry appendix.

Got to try a Shield and a G43 this weekend. Thanks Dogman!
The diff between the Shield and Shield Plus models are basically the trigger is much better on a Plus. It isn't the lever type safety trigger, but a bladed on instead.
The diff between a G43 and a G43X frame is the grip length. The G43, pinky hangs off the base. G43X, pinky is on the grip. This can be solved though with a G43 extended mag, so your pinky can grip.
So I the recoil was less on the Shield. Both I wasn't as accurate with though. So at 10 yards on a torso shaped steel, with the M45 I can get like 9 of 10 hits with faster moderate speed. With the same speed on the VP9 it's like 7/8 of 10. With both sub compacts it was like 3 of 10. And even with slow fire, it was like 3 of 10. I remember watching 1 YT'er (Honest Outlaw) and he mentions these smaller pistols will be much less accurate and aren't really designed to go 25 yards and even 10 yards don't expect much (rounds touching grouping). But he was able to do it (Indian not the arrow). Which would mean when I buy which ever model I want, I need to practice a lot.
With my M&P9C (like a thicker Shield due to a double stack mag), I got like 6/7 of 10 hits on steel. But this has an Apex trigger and I'm used to this gun. So Indian, not the arrow most likely.
Just need to try out a P365X next. Which I probably will do in Vegas next month at a rental range.

I'm still on the fence about which pistol I want to carry
got it narrowed down to 3: G19 with optic and light, Hellcat with optic, P365 no optic
I like the G19 bc I can shoot it the best and reload the mags easier than the other 2. but it's bigger than the other 2. and carrying it in my pocket is a no go bc its a little too big for my pocket
I like the Hellcat bc its smaller than the G19, I can carry in the pocket, and I can shoot it almost as accurately as the G19. although I only had the Hellcat for a few weeks
I like the P365 bc its smaller than the G19, about the same size as the Hellcat. I like the manual safety for pocket carry.
being able to pocket carry isn't a necessity, but its an option I like to have
either of the 3 will work for ccw, just trying to decide which one will work best in all or most situations for me
-
I envy the mainland guys who alternate their concealed carry guns every once in a while. Obviously the ccw laws there permit them to do so.
Would be nice if Hawaii would implement something like that too. Or at least issue one permit with a listing of which gun the licensee intends to carry at any given time.
But who are we kidding. Hawaii would probably issue one ccw permit per gun. Just like how you have to have one PTA per handgun.

You can always get a Sig with different grip modules.
-
You can always get a Sig with different grip modules.
Same serial.
Same manufacturer.
Same model.
Same caliber.
That should work!
One of the primary reasons Sig went with the modular FCG was for markets where the number of handguns anyone can own is limited. Seems that now applies to what's recorded on your Hawaii CC License.

The 365 also has a FCG.

G43x is out. Its longer which for AIWB affects a seated position. And looks super plain jane. Plus i hate the sights on it. So more $ to change them out. But would still be cheaper than a 365X.

Consider it an insurance policy.
How much more would you be willing to pay if one policy protects you substantially better than a cheaper one?

Thats the problem, all 3 have its pros and cons. So to help narrow down, g43x got cut. All 3 not in the various LGS showcases.

The best carry gun is the one you'll actually carry.
If you start leaving it at home because it's heavy, bulky or uncomfortable, you're less likely to be armed at the moment you'll need to be.
Think of it as a wardrobe accessory. Choose the one you least notice you're wearing. That could be a feature of the holster you have for it more than the specific gun.
-
I tried to carry the 43x IWB at the 3 and 4 o'clock position, the problem is that the grip prints really bad. The grip is the same size as a Glock 19, only difference is the 43x is just slimmer. 43x is best carried (for me) is appendix carry, with the right holster. I changed out the stock sights to the night version. If you want to add stuff to it the MOS version is the way to good. Able to add lights/lasers combo, and is ready to take a red dot.

Final, for now anyways.
I ordered the Shield Plus optics ready, no manual safety from DCT. He is 1 reason why no need make 3 trips to HPD. So I want to support him. Heres why:
I've watched multiple vids on YT since this thread began comparing the shield plus and 365X. Every one of them picked the plus over the X.
Pros of Shield Plus
Trigger is better on the plus
Recoil is less on the plus
Better grip on the plus, X is too small (see cons section)
Gun is available in LGS, 365X on back order. DCT is getting 1 in next week, but it will have the RomeoZero on it.
Cons
Sights are the 3 dot, not a big deal as my VP9 has Trijicon night sights and if I had to re do it, I would go with something way cheaper. The X comes with night sights. I don't plan on changing the sights.
Gun is slightly heavier
Grip is slightly wider (adds to bulk when AIWB a tucked in polo shirt to slacks)
Doesnt look as cool as the X. I think this was the main reason why I wanted the X. It just looks cool. But all performance says the Plus is a better gun.
I got optics ready because I may go Holosun on this later. Prob create another thread or add to my RDS one. I have no clue when. I didn't want the one that DCT has coming in because the RomeoZero for the price is good. But it's made of plastic and I dont trust it not to break. And the screen is not glass, but plastic as well. So wiping will cause it to deteriorate over time faster than glass. Jedi from MSP mentions his top 3 RDS and this wasn't on even his honorable mention or top 5.
I will order an AGIS Tier1 Concealed holster (side car) with ULTI clips. The reason is because the mag carrier next to it will add balance when AIWB and a shirt tucked in. If it was just a holster, then if there is a protrusion, it is only on 1 side. I might get another holster later for when I go untucked aloha shirt carry at the 4 oclock .But for now gonna use the VP9 or M&P 9C.
I also just ordered a new dress belt KORE X1. I needed one anyways. Tumi cost $140 and not designed for a holster. The KORE was like $60. DCT has these in stock, I didn't know or I would have bought it from him too. IDK if it's X1 or another model, he just said he has the dress belts. I didn't ask what model.
-
Shield Plus comes in later today. I'll swing by DCT to pay for it. I like how they're open after work hours. This way I don't have to take off from work. New update though, they closed on Sundays.
Also ordered the Tier1 Concealed Axis Elite. 15-20 business day lead time.

Going to apply for PTA later. Got to fondle the Shield Plus. The length of the grip actuallly isn't as bad as I thought it would be. I thought it would be like my M&P9C and the pinky totally hangs off. But the grip here about half the pink is on it without the flush fitting mag. Also it comes with better sights than the 3 dot as advertised. 3 dot isnt too big of a deal, but night sights with orange front post is nice. My only concern with the 3 dot is that the rear sight has no notch to rack on a belt (1 handed racking). This new sights do have a ledge, so problem avoided.
The 10rd flush mags fit 10 rds. Compared to my 9C that only fits 9, although it's supposed to be 10 (both flush and pinky extension ones). I think I have 1 that fits 10, but it don't fit in a closed slide. Not sure if this will fit on a closed slide or not. Gotta wait 2 weeks to find out.
Trigger is much better than the prior M&P "lever safety" triggers. I do like how the Shield fits in my hands compared to the 9C. Also got to fondle a G43X which was in the running. Not a fan of the rear sight though, it has that U shaped white line.
Range report to follow.

Nice! I like the original Shield. Haven't tried the plus. I volunteer to help you break in the new Shield ;D
I was (not really seriously) thinking about a micro-Glock with RDS. You can change the sights BTW. . .

You know how new guns work, it's a rule to let your friends try and owner supplies the ammo.
The sight thing on the G43X was a factor and even if I had to buy new Truglo or something, it would still come out cheaper than the 365X and only slightly more than the Shield. My VP9 has a Trijicon night sight, which if I had to do it over again, I would go with Truglo due to the the huge price difference.
The trigger on the Plus is heavier than the VP9, I would say comparable to a CZ P10C. It could be that my VP9 trigger feels lighter cause it's more broken in. Either way, better than the hinge/lever M&P trigger.

So if my CCW is issued, I'm gonna buy a Holosun 507K X2. I like the smaller MOA dot, which will be good for HDF accuracy focused SB's. The 407K has a 6 MOA. And ROMEO Zero a 3 MOA, which I tried this weekend.
I ended up on Holosun due to the:
1) Price
2) Reliability (not plastic like the ROMEOZero)
3) Shake on and off
I will wait because I don't want to buy it and cannot CCW. So why invest more. I could take this to Vegas, but I like my VP9 cause it has a WML on it, so it doubles as a nightstand gun as well.

Get it and use to train. If you aren't shooting with a RDS now, recommend you start doing so if CCW with a RDS handgun is your desired end goal.

my list of carry options so far in order of what I think I will carry most often:
G19 with light and RDS - good do it all pistol, most likely will be my go to ccw
Sig P365 with external safety - if I want to pocket carry with 10 rounds of 9mm
Ruger LCR 38sp - if I want to pocket carry with 5 rounds of 38sp
Hellcat with RDS - micro compact with RDS
HK45 - 10 rounds of 45acp

Since you don't own one yet, I'd recommend looking into the EPS Carry. It's a closed emitter type that shares the same footprint as the 407/507K line.

For me,
Really leaning towards my CZ P-01 (omega) just because I like how it feels when shooting, and I got the decocker model and really prefer decockers over safeties...
also considered Glock 43X (only if got the rail and MOS option), Sig P365 spectre comp (when it comes available), and/or compact 1911 (to carry 45acp)
really looking to setup my P-01 first though, I put $1000 a side to spend on upgrades and hope to stay in the budget

If they allow CCW then my P365.
Also was thinking of my Walther P22.
I have a holster for the P365 that can be converted to IWB or OWB. I just recently got a pocket leather holster for it also.
Can any of you guys comment on an ankle holster for the P22? Was considering one for it.

I tried it and the pinky hangs off. Problem can be solved with extended pinky mags. But you still fall short of a few rounds (not at 10rd max). IMO, I want the most rounds that I can legally carry (10). I was looking at the G43 cause the pinky thing isn't too big of an issue, but the loss of rounds is. So the G43X solved this problem.
I'm sure someone makes a 10rd mag, but since it will stick out more might as well go G43X and no need buy base plates. Save $.
-
Glock 43's are difficult to shoot due to the thin and short grip compared to most other pistols. There are 10 round magazines for it now. I would recommend a a Glock 43x or 48 over it, unless you really need the smallest and lightest gun.

That's the main reason I still like my G26. Standard 10rd double-stacked mags, giving the grip a more substantial purchase than the single stack subcompacts.
While there are potentially better guns of a similar size from other brands, there's still nothing wrong with the Glock 26. Plus, it can use a G19 or G17 mag in a pinch.

I've shot the 42 and 43 quite a bit and I thought they were fine. I was looking at the G43X (not the "regular" one). Not REALLY seriously looking, but something I thought about trying. Overall, I like the Shield better, but want the RDS capability.
I don't see myself going away from my G19 any time soon, but interested if there's something better.

Ya, X not the "plain". I shot the original 43 quite a bit. A buddy and his friends had 43s and they had malfunctions with them. I shot a couple of them and was fine. Was mostly on the bullseye range, and not training though.

I put in for my Kahr CM9. It is tiny and it is something I know I can carry daily in any circumstance or clothing choice. However it has a rather limited 7 round capacity. Probably have an extra mag in the pocket as well. If we can get one permit for any handgun, I’d also rotate in my G48 for the extra rounds, if the outfit would accommodate the larger pistol.

how about an AR in a backpack?

I think a 16" AR would fit in a ukulele case. Might have to separate upper and lower

Probably have an extra mag in the pocket as well. If we can get one permit for any handgun, I’d also rotate in my G48 for the extra rounds, if the outfit would accommodate the larger pistol.
Or u can buy a new gun. G43X. G48 grip, but slide is smaller (G43 size slide). So u get 10rds.

Just picked up a new optic slide for my G48, plus the grip is what makes it a little more difficult to conceal, for me.
Tried a G43 and a Sig 365, and as for pocket sized 9mms, the Kahr seemed to shoot and handle much better for me.

Colin noir mentioned something that size is his mail gun. Just going to check his mail box, but doesnt want to holster up fully or be unarmed.

Jumping in on the micro pistol trend/craze and bought a 43x. If the LGS had a 365XL in stock too, I might have bought one of those too. So now the wait.
Since I bought one and have to do the PTA process, thinking about a P320 as well. ;D

Would be cool if LGS sold the 320 FCU's. I wanna see HPD flip when someone brings only that in to reg in person (don't do online reg).
I've decided on the Holosun 507K over the 407K. The main diff is the 507 has a 2 MOA dot and the 407 is 6 MOA. For the skill builders that I take, it focuses on accuracy, which I will be needing the 2 MOA.
Now I'm waiting to be issued my CCW for HI. Until then, I would not be RDSing the Shield Plus.

I haven't decided on RDS for the 43. There's a rebate going for the Trijicon RMRcc (until Sep I think). I am tempted to try the 407K and 507K based on convos with a shooting buddy as well as one LGS. Plus I've been interested in Holosuns for RDS. I have a couple of ARs, but none for pistols.
Even if CCW starts being issued, I don't see myself going with the 43 for a while. It's mostly for "try and see for myself" right now.

My main reasons for going with Holosun over Trijicon is price and battery loading. But the battery loading isn't too much of an issue if u know where the dot sits on your irons. But still in the back of my mind that I didn't officially zero it.
A side kudos is the holosun shake on and off. My AR's SIG Romeo5 is the same tech.

The side battery compartment is a feature that has me interested in the Holosun. But I am able to get pretty good pricing on Trijicon and with the rebate, the pricing is pretty close. Gotta buy soon though.
The P320 I am eyeing has the Romeo Pro 1. Now I'm looking at holsters. . . 8)

You guys looking at 407K and 507K should take a look at the EPS carry sight by holosun. It is an enclosed emitter version that fits the same footprint as 507K/407K.

I was looking into that and other closed emitters, but for my reasons, I decided against it. Besides this not being an open carry duty gun like PD, I lean toward what others are doing and take that as a clue.
I learned this after 5 various holsters and finally went with Safariland. The "pros" use similar gear for a reason and the same philosphy came to play with a RDS. Many are not running a closed emitter like the ACRO or like. most have Trijicon and then Holosuns. Which is also why I dropped Vortex and Leupold from the list. But back to the closed emitters, I rarely see anyone running them. Warrior Poet, Jedi (MSP), IV8888, Honest Outlaw, Knockout Lights, etc...

I'm down to try. What do you see as the advantages for EPS?
I've heard of them, but haven't looked into them closely. Mostly since I am somewhat "set" with the RDS setups for my full and compact guns. So haven't looked into RDS in a while.

jedi is liking closed emitters now...

Might go back to the drawing board. But gotta get HI CCW first. So if by end of next month we get them, then too late if Jedi does go to closed emitts.

Always testing and trying. Imagine what it would be like he was more closed minded. . .

Dirt, water, etc cannot occlude the emitter if the optic is closed.
I’ve preordered the green 6 MOA. I’ll give it a whirl. Just set up my G48 with an optic slide and put a 407k on it. Just saw the Brownells email and had a weak moment. Lol. And I haven’t even fired or zeroed the 407 yet. Hahaha

Interesting. Haven’t seen many detailed reviews, but seems like solid product and tech.
Now question is second gun for the EPS? ;D
I’ve already thought about it, and I haven’t even touched the 43x I bought. Haha

Most slide mounted sized RDS were originally open emitter. Only in the last few years have we seen closed emitter RDS that were small enough and practical. Most people use the open emitters like RMR etc because they are the most common. That does not mean they are better though. I have RMR and a few holosun open emitter 407c, 507c and 508T. But had there been the holosun 509T, and EPS series closed emitters available when I cut my slides and started my builds I would have gone that route.
Closed emitters are the future. But it’s your firearm and $. I’m just making a suggestion.
The EPS carry literally just came out about 2 weeks ago. That’s why there are no reviews out yet. But initial things I have read are promising.

Did more research and talking with some shooting buddies and I’m going to give an EPS a try. Just a matter of when. I currently have RMRs on Glocks, and have will soon have a 43x with slide cut. If the EPS carry is available in red when I get the gun back, I’ll give it a try, but very doubtful the EPS carry will be available but then. So likely will go with a 407k.
DCT is supposed to have EPS for the “regular” MOS slide cut (not slim) later this week, but in green. I will likely wait for the red reticle to become available. But who knows, I might give in and give the green a try. ;D

EPS carry red was available from a bunch of retailers and already reached the hands of purchasers last week. You just have to keep looking to find one in stock online. Or back order from a reputable website.

Yeah, I'm now on a couple of "lists". Were you one of the purchasers that got your hands on an EPS?
Up until about a week ago, I had zero interest in the micro/slim pistols. My Glock 19s have been great when I did CC in the past. Figure I would at least give them a try besides shooting a couple of mags here and there from my buddies' micro pistols.

Thanks Mill, I went down the rabbit hole and looking into the EPS. Back to the drawing board because the phrase "buy once, cry once" is in play. IDK if I really need a closed emit because this is a strictly CCW gun, except when taking skill builders. Which would be the only time dirt may go in the emit. So if anything, lint is the biggest concern.

The EPS carry is around $300-350. While not cheap, you just spent over $$$ on your 1911 and ammo. :o 8)
I think the EPS is around $100-150 ish more than say the 407 and 507 models. . . Eat ramen for lunch for like 1-2 weeks. ;D

my list of carry options so far in order of what I think I will carry most often:
G19 with light and RDS - good do it all pistol, most likely will be my go to ccw
Sig P365 with external safety - if I want to pocket carry with 10 rounds of 9mm
Ruger LCR 38sp - if I want to pocket carry with 5 rounds of 38sp
Hellcat with RDS - micro compact with RDS
HK45 - 10 rounds of 45acp
add 1 more to my list: HK45C - 8 rounds of 45acp with 10 round backup mag :geekdanc:

So the pinky hangs off half to 1/4 from the slide. They dont make 10rd mags with pinky exention like how they do for the 9C.
Also 10rds fits tightly on a closed slide. Need to press hard to seat mag. 9c 10rders of the 5 mags i got, only 2 can actually fit 10rds in them. And both wont fit in a closed slide.
So overall based on not shooting yet, the shield plus is better than the 9C. 9c's factory trigger sucks too.
Cool part is the 3dot sights that are supposed to come with the shield now come with tridium sights. M&P is stamped on the rear sight. Idk if trijicon makes them and puts the M&P logo. The shield is much thinner than the 9C too.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220805/9c9d0bedf2c129b0fb826135338b3fa7.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220805/2ef7b045a6134dc1b9ee222fb1a394af.jpg)

The SCS now looks super cool. Dammit, too many choices.
But gen 1 stuff offten has improvements that can be made. So maybe still stick with 507k and when need to replace, then SCS tech will be all ironed out.

Just picked up a 48 MOS as well since I found one for a great price, plus I had a GC. So plan likely is to try the 407k on one and probably the EPS on another. You can sample once I have them. Will be more than 2 weeks from now since 19 Aug is a State holiday. So have to wait a bit longer until I can pick up my PTA. :( :grrr:

bigger dot is faster and easier to acquire. A smaller dot doesn't make the gun "more accurate"
-
My recommendation is to try and see what you find works best for you. Talk to folks with similar shooting interest, style, discipline, etc as you.
Over time, I have shot different MOA for rifles and pistols and I like the smaller MOA. I’ve been shooting the 3.25 MOA RMR for a while, and like it. Some folks like the 6-8 MOA. I don’t care for them for competition and training.

I’ve tried both. Both are good. With 6moa, dot is quicker to acquire and track. 2 MOA can give you a more precise aiming point, however your natural shake/wobble is visually more noticeable, which could be distracting.
Being target focused and pressing the shot with a sight picture (not a dot picture) helps to make either or size dot workable.

"Embrace the wobble" ;D
Hear many folks saying that and it's true to a certain extent. Get/learn what is "good enough" and "send it". There are a few videos about that from MSP, Sage Dynamics, etc. A trusted shooting instructor and I got into pistols with RDS around the same time and had similar discussions about the wobble, trying to get it perfect or better, etc.
I don't find the larger MOA easier to track. I found that the smaller MOA dot has more window to track vertically. Can still work with larger MOA dot, but I found it easier or at least less distracting for me with the smaller dot.
-
I prefer the dot with the circle. like the Holosun or Eotech reticle. but I'm a fan of the Holosun line bc of price, and durability isn't bad at all
fast acquisition with the circle, with a precise dot for more accurate shots at distance
I wanted to get a Holosun for my Hellcat but heard of some fitment issues on the 407k with the Hellcat, so didn't want to take a chance. and this new optic wasn't out yet. so I got the Hex Wasp since it was made for the Hellcat. but recently it stopped working, but that's for another thread. I have a different one on its way currently to replace the Wasp

I am quickly becoming a fan of Holosun. Starting with a red dot for a PCC and will soon be using/testing one for a carbine. I have an EPS on the way for a Glock 48 MOS and will likely be trying the 407k for another pistol. Seems like they've really been expanding and listening to their customer base on features/needs.

I was at DCT last week and he had 1 507K left. I was tempted to buy it. But gotta stick to the plan. Once HI CCW is issued, then RDS. Cause if not, then the Shield will be a safe queen. I really should have waited to buy the Shield, but I've had my eye on my own compact for some time now and the SCOTUS ruling got me hard. Gonna go HPD today or tomorrow to add this to the CCW app.

Not made for shield yet. I think thats how its made, gun specific. So only glock for now. And ita designed for no optics plate, so can use regular irons as back up. Correct if wrong, holosuns website just has the pic of the optic. No details. Weird.

I think the 407/507 are meant to use standard irons. Not positive. I typically change sights on my Glocks anyways. Might just use the OEM ones on these for a while. But likely will swap out to Dawsons.

They have a rear sight notch. Idk how the front post holds up (if tall enough). But i will shoot thru the sight. As i have learned with my AR how to use the furniture for aiming points (assume buis break too).

drck1000,
I got the tungsten rods for the SIG P365 (& P320) today. Rods are really heavy for their size.... I think they weigh more than lead.
True to the reviews, the rods were loose in the slots, so I wrapped them with black washi tape (electrical tape or masking tape would work also)
so they wouldn't rattle.....
I think with the rods and a full mag, the P365 weighs like a "metal" gun, like maybe a compact 1911.....
The last picture is my P365 with the Wilson Combat grip module and the extended mag.
(I think the WC grip makes the 365 real close in size to the HellCat)
The WC grip, tungsten rod, and extended mag are good for Kokohead.
I would revert to the standard SIG grip and short mag for CCW though....lots of carrying and not shooting......

Thanks. Still a little over a week from having my P320 in hand. The P320 will be primarily to try the P320 line since I always wanted to try. Mostly for general range time, training and likely eventually competition. Need to get more mags, but have the holsters already. I read a lot of positives about the heavier Legion grip module, so really want to try that. I have one on the way without the weights. Not thinking about CCW for the P320.

If you not thinking of CCW, then get the tungsten rods for sure. They are worth it, they will settle down your P320.
-
If they allow CCW then my P365.
Also was thinking of my Walther P22.
But if they only allow open carry I'm still on the fence. (As far as if I would carry a firearm.)
Walther p22 is what I would carry. More quiet. Little to non existent recoil. With cci minimag hollow point / segmenting. And I think my keys weigh more than that pea shooter lol. Jk but it's hella light.

I like shooting it! :shaka: So much fun. It does prefer the higher velocity rounds, though. Mini-mags work flawlessly, and the Aguila Super Extras work great also.
The other bulk pack 22's are hit and miss. But they're good enough for plinking and range practice and the once in a while FTE's and FTF's provide good training on clearing and chambering another round.
Yeah, it's so light that when I stick it in my pocket I hardly notice it weight wise. It's about 3/8" longer than my P365 but otherwise they are about the same in thickness and height.
Love these 2 guns.

Haha yeah thats exactly the same ammo I use. Cci 36g cphp and aguila 40g cprn. Also velocitors.
Thanks for that 365 comparison. I was trying to figure out a nice clip on holster for it. Preferably leather iwb. I have a g26 desantis dual carry iwb that kinda works but it's a little floppy even with the thumb break snapped in place. :shaka:

Only lost about 15% of my gambling money, so RDS is def on the list once CCW's are issued. Slots/tables treated me nice until I lost $1K at the craps table the last hour we were there. Betted high risk, high reward on a $25 table.

CCW permit/license or not, just get the red dot and train.

Tier1 concealed holster came in. I got the metal clips, works without a belt. So gym shorts, no need another holster. Plus its slimmer than the plastic ones. Down side is it will scratch a leather belt if not careful when donning and doffing.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220823/d16abc6247244967aaaf256ddd4fb090.jpg)

Nice. Did you get the wedge pack? If you didn’t, I prob still have spares.
I have another on order for the 43x. How long are they taking these days?

15-20 business days.
No need wedge. I did have to remove 1 layer of the claw though. Fits good with polo shirt tucked into slacks. Just gotta get more reps on placement. Prob will do more once ccw is issued.

Video on can your carry pistol and your skill stop an attacker? Is your gun accurate enough and hold enough rounds to take someone down. Guarantee hits on someone shooting at you, and you not hitting bystanders behind him? What if it's someone with a rifle or shotgun at distance?
I bought my Glock 43 because I figured it's the smallest most concealable gun. However I realized it's a liability since it's difficult to shoot accurately and it's 6 round capacity is inadequate to take someone down. That's why I got a Glock 48 midsize to carry and reserve the 43 to carry for very deep concealment or while exercising.

That's why when looking, the G43 wasn't a consideration. 6rds is way too low mag cap. And even with reliable extensions, you're still under 10rds and you gotta spend more $. Easier to go with G48 or G43X.

Picked up my 43x last night. Similar grip height/length as the 19. Pinkies able to get full purchase on the grip. I hate the grips of the 43, 26, etc.

With the Chiefs latest statements, no clue on when I will be picking up the RDS. Because I do not use the Shield for Vegas CCW due to it not having a WML on it (bed stand gun). Which my VP9 has.
Which means I will be getting that PS5 when the new COD comes out in Oct.

Agreed.
If you intend to carry with that sight, you should buy it ahead of time so you can practice. You'll want to pass the CCL test using the RDS -- whenever the test materializes in the future.

Since i'm pretty much set on the 507K, I will be getting the DPP Titanium plate because its more available than CH something plates and like half the cost. The reviews have been good on DPP via YT. And if I go EPS carry, it's the same plate.

Got and it! The 507k is a fraction of the case of .45 ACP you broke you 1911 in with.
I have the CH plate. Will see how it fits with the EPS Carry when I pick up my 48 MOS later today. . .

Yeah. I ordered the plate before I had the EPS. The 43x was milled for the Holosun K or RMRcc footprint, so was direct mount. Used the screws that came from the shop that did the milling.

I tried to look if the 407/507k also came with adapter plate, but couldn't tell for sure.
I'm holding out for the EPS Carry and regular versions to come back in stock at Eurooptic. But if I see them come back in stock at say Midway, Brownells, CHPWS, etc, I might just get one. Or maybe try out the 407/507k that they have in stock at EO.

Initial thoughts after shooting?
I didn't end up getting to hit the range with the 43x. Probably mid-Sep until I get to shoot it. Debated hitting up 808 in the meantime. ;D
What HP load did you end up choosing? I've been shopping around for some. Just waiting to see what comes back in stock for a next order with Kaleo.

I shot a good group at 5yrds, so went to 15yrds to see what I can do if HPD requires the armored car test for CCW. All my shots were low left outside of a basketball size. So I immediatly used my VP9 and 8 of 10 were inside basketball and of that 8; 6 were inside jabone. So I thought it's prob the new gun break in.
I then shot another 100rds at 5 yrds and went back to the 15yrds. This time I was much better. Like 7 of 10 inside basketball, and of the 7; like 4 inside jabone.
I was watching an old Tier1 Concealed RDS vid (2 years old) and 1 guy was running the P365 and mentioned that 15yrds is pushing the limit for a small gun, let alone anything at 25yrds.
So I'm just trying to justify my accuracy diff between the VP9 and Shield at 15yrds.
But overall, I like the Shield. Like i've stated prior,it has a specific role (polo shirt tucked into slacks IWB). Aloha shirt untucked will be VP9.
I used Gold Dot 124gr (non +). And did notice it's snappier than range 115gr FMJ. But both at 5yrds was inside golf ball (slow to moderate fire). Rapid fire (mag dump) was basketball at 5yrds.

1) That is one of the biggest reasons I decide to take the plunge and buy a 43x and shoot, test, evaluate, etc for myself. Need/want to know for myself. As well as have them as others get into micro/slim/etc pistols. I eventually want to shoot them in carry optics. I don't have the IWB holster for the 43x yet, but I can def see how the slim body can help, also be "different" as well.
2) VP9SK? I haven't shot a Shield in years, but I recall it being a solid pistol. That I liked over the 42 and 43.
3) I have a bunch of that same GD for my 19s and 17s. I haven't chrono'ed them, but I thought velocity was similar to factory 115 gr FMJ range fodder. I now have a chrono that is more convenient for pistols, so can do more testing. I thought you were going with the Federal?

It's just a VP9. I have 1 box HST which I have in my VP9 and P10C. And 4 boxes of GD. So I'm running GD in the Shield. Either are good options, it's just whats available. When I got the GD, HST was sold out (SEC). THis last trip to Vegas, I didn't have time to go to any gun stores to see if they have HST.
I just rotated (shot) my HST that was in the VP and P10 like a month ago. Which is why I'm down to 1 box.

I meant you should try/check out the SK version.
You should buy more ammo. . .

I did, but I got a thing of owning 2 of the same gun and the SK is too close to the VP. Same reason why I never bought a P30 or like platform, the grips are the same. When I buy another gun, I pretty much want something "new". Like VP9 to M45 to Shield Plus. Personal preference. Cause I got a friend who has multiple of the same gun.

I forgot to add that my shooting on Sunday was with a busted ring finger on my support hand. So can only support the grip with index and middle finger. Which also why I went slower for AIWB draw, had the shot timer set at 1.5 seconds. I didn't want to reinjure my ring finger trying to lift my shirt.
I sliced the tip about 3/4 an inch on thursday night on a the top part of a can of soup. I was pushing the trash bag into the trash chute and it cut me thru the trash bag. Blood wasn't gushing or squirting out, but flowing out.
-
I applied for ccw for 5 different handguns, but seeing all the BS we will have to go through to get a permit for each gun, I think I'll only use 1 handgun for ccw
either my G19 or Hellcat. the Hellcat is smaller, but the G19 I can shoot better right now. more practice with the G19 vs the Hellcat just bc I just got the Hellcat and I've had the Glock for a while now. but the Springfield is smaller, easier to conceal.
I'll have to see which one will work better for me overall. I'll have to do some comparison shooting. but either one should be good, just want to see which one is better for me
the Sig P365 is my third choice. just bc it doesn't have an optic. slide not cut for optic, although I could get a slide with optic cut. but it is the most concealable of the 3. but overall I prefer the Hellcat over the P365. I will use the Sig for my answer the doorbell pistol along with my LCR 38sp

What footprint is the Hellcat? I've seen a lot of reviews of the Hellcat with the Swampfox and some other red dot.
I've CCW'ed my 19s and previously my 17s. Haven't shot my Glock slim body pistols yet, but I can def see how I've gotten used to and spoiled by the stipping and frame work on my Gucci Glocks.

hellcat is the Shield RMsc footprint. the hex Wasp fits directly to the slide and co-witness with the factory sights very well. the front sight on the Hellcat is big and bright, I like it better than the sights on the P365.
most people have the Shield or the Hex Wasp on the Hellcat
hellcat only the front sight is tritium, the rear is a U shape with white outline. I like it
the P365 is front and rear tritium. the sights are good, but I prefer the setup on the hellcat, easier/faster sight acquisition
I also have the Swampfox Sentinel. but the co-witness is not as good as with the wasp red dot. seems like the hex wasp just sits lower on the slide than the swampfox
with the swampfox the co witness is so low, you can barely get half of the irons to co witness on the bottom of the sight picture of the red dot window. the wasp red dot is a lot better for this gun with factory sights, IMO. maybe the shield dot is the same as the wasp as far as the co witnessing. but I've never tried it
I think I'll save the Swampfox for another pistol, maybe a G43x or something else. not sure yet
-

The Shield Plus is the same.
So I will be at DCT on Thursday. I will ask David what he got. If he has a 507K I will buy it. But if he has a EPS carry, I will buy that. Pretty much which ever he has first. And if he has both or both come in later, I will pick the EPS carry over the 507K. Mainly cause the EPS comes with the plate already, so to factor in the cost of a plate needed for the 507K is like $20-$70 added to the cost of the optic. At that point, might as well spend a little more and go with EPS.
CMO logic.

Hex Wasp, yeah, that's the other one I've seen commonly with the Hellcat. The EPS Carry sits low enough that the stock irons in the Glock 43x that was milled is maybe 1/16" above the bottom of the window. I think it will be "good enough" for use of BUIS. I'll likely be going with Dawson sights for the 43x. It was milled aftermarket. Will have to see how the EPS Carry (or whatever I end up getting) sits with the 48 MOS.
LMK if you want to try the 48 MOS or 43x.

What?!?! F'real? The idea finally broke through? haha
When I was at his shop a couple of days before he left on his trip, I didn't see either of those. He did mention another shipment coming in soon. Also may depend on which version of the EPS he has come in. I have the "regular" EPS Carry. The MRS version is running about $70 more. But that's nothing compared to ammo. . . ;D For future EPS, I want the MRS version for the solar, but not essential.
Last time I was in his shop to pick up a couple of pistols, I ended up spending quite a bit more $$$. Worse than going to Lowes. And I could have spent a LOT more. . . haha
If you end up with the 507k, let me know. If the plate that came with the EPS Carry works, you can have it.

I haven't shot it yet, but I recommend you go with the EPS. Cry once and all that. . .
But, I'm getting rid of a bunch of old gear and frankly crap taking up space. If you don't use the plate that came with the EPS Carry, it will likely just sit in a parts bin and probably forgotten. . .
The 507k isn't THAT much cheaper if you go with the non-MRS version :hmm:

The EPS Carry sits low enough that the stock irons in the Glock 43x that was milled is maybe 1/16" above the bottom of the window. I think it will be "good enough" for use of BUIS. I'll likely be going with Dawson sights for the 43x. It was milled aftermarket. Will have to see how the EPS Carry (or whatever I end up getting) sits with the 48 MOS.
LMK if you want to try the 48 MOS or 43x.
thanks for the offer. I might take you up on that :shaka:
-
I haven't shot it yet, but I recommend you go with the EPS.
Or you can buy a Shield Plus, Helcat, or gun that would use the plate.
-

Will let you know when I hit the range again.

Prob not buying another micro/compact pistol. At least not until I shoot the 43x and 48 a LOT.
I have plans for a couple of full size pistol projects planned in prep for an RDS class next year. Otherwise I'd be tempted to try a Shield or a P365.

probably won't be until november or later until we can shoot centerfire on the target side of the range, but I can wait.
I've overspent my limit on my credit cards for now. I bought a few HK's lately and the Sig and the Springfield, so I pretty much have no choice but to wait to buy something new until towards the end of the year
I still have a few more handguns I want to put up for sale. I guess nobody is in the market for a short barrel 357 SA right now. but I know not many people into single action revolvers, I might just keep it and give it to my nephew
but lmk when you go kokohead next time :shaka:

Action bays still open. Hope it remains that way. I was looking at the MPPL calendar and is indicates "Closed during range renovation" or something like that for October. Hope that's just bad assumption.

Bro, you just messed up CMO logic/pake-ness. Now the 507K will be much cheaper.
But I'll let u know. Thanks.
Brownells has EPS regular in stock. I would bet they have the EPS Carry in stock soon.
But, try checking with DCT for order.

Might need to rethink carry options. HPD chief is requiring “type 2” holsters (which I think means level 2). So the holster options are going to be much less. And concealment is gonna be a lot harder. I planned on appendix carrying a G43x. But now I am going to change my permit app to my G19. So that I can fanny pack carry the G19 w/ TLR7a in my Safariland level 2 holster within the Fanny pack. Since there isn’t any good reliable level 2 holsters for G43x MOS w/ a TLR7 sub on it.

Gotta be a man of your word. . .
Hopefully he can get something for you soon.
I'm def going to get an EPS for one of my 19s or 17s. Likely another for the 48. Do a lot of trying/testing.

Cool. He mentioned a while back he had some EPS green inbound, but probably didn't last long. When I went to his shop about a week later, nothing in the case.
Which model 507k you going to get?

I already added Oct 4, to my day off bid for the month of October. Hopefully I get it off so I can attend. Does anyone have the link to submit testimony? I will try and find it on my own, but if anybody has the testimony link please add it to this thread. Thanks

Thank you for doing your part. I've had some friends call me to ask me whats up and a good number of them won't attend or even submit testimony. Yet they're bitching about the rule/law. If they weren't friends of mine, I would tell them to stop calling me for this kind of stuff until they participate. It is understood that there may be reasons why people don't submit stuff, like maybe their jobs, but in this situations, there is no reason. I asked them why and their reply was "nah, i'm just not into this kind of thing", yet they're calling me for info.

Shot the 43x this past weekend and I would say definite potential for CCW use. Will need to shoot it a lot more. Thinking about shooting it in a pistol match for Carry Optics. Planning to shoot at least 200-300 over the next many months. I have a few holsters coming in for the 43x and 48 MOS, for both IWB/CCW and OWB/training and competition. Liking the 43x and 48 grip length a lot more than the 42 and 43. Looking forward to shooting them a lot more.

This whole "type 2" holster thing is quite a PITA.
If type 2 is considered level 2 then would a leather OWB pancake holster that does not have an adjustable "friction lock" around the trigger guard, be able to pass as a level 2? It has a thumb break tho. I.e. de santis dual carry 2.
Safariland lists their level 2 holster as being with the sls hood and als nub. All the while having an adjustable tension screw against the light. Wouldnt that be level 3?
I know they list their level 3 with als, sls, and plastic piece thats bendable to protect the nub and hood.
Their is very few iwb holsters with a thumb break. And those with a thumb break (only talking bout leather) doesnt have a tensioning screw for the trigger guard.
So dumb. Lol

In my opinion they are trying their darndest to make CCW carry in Hawaii impractical and so restrictive that it defies all common sense and logic.
Not to mention a type 2 level holster will print like a 14" boto in a yoga leotard.

Holster for my 48 MOS came in over the weekend. Tried it on last night and it conceals better/easier (though prob not much) than the 19 with a similar brand/make holster. I may try a sidecar-style configuration holster for the 43x. Decided to try with the 48 MOS first due to a few recommendations.

The gap bothers me. Ill call CHPWS on monday. Vid says there should be no light coming thru.
Seems like the roll pin is preventing a flush fit.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220917/b39c32643dbad46bfa18272b521c3916.jpg)

Carried the Shield Plus AIWB with sidecar and the weight diff and bulkyness was huge compared to the VP9. Even with the additional with of the sidecar holster, it wasn't noticeable at all. Glad I made the investment for a smaller gun.
Mrs. CMO is getting a P365XL with Romeo Zero (comes with the optic). We may change it later to a 507K if she likes the RDS. This would be her first RDS also. If she doesn't like it, then we will go to irons. SEC didn't have 1 without the RDS and all other stores for the XL without external safety were sold out and no ETA on when they could get it. I gave DCT 1st draft choice and he couldn't bring it in. Young Guns had the external safety.

The CMOs buying a lot of pistolas lately. Ballah!
Now that will be a fun side-by-side or head-to-head competition! Are you going to change trigger on your Shield? Like an Apex?

The plus comes with a much better trigger than the non-plus. So I wont be changing it. The M&P line all had shit triggers.

Thought you said was Indian, not the bow? 8)
I only have one M&P. I swear the trigger on my M&P 45 is 10-12 lbs. . . I don't shoot it much though.
Ordered an Overwatch Precision for my 43x. Heard really good things. Was also checking out Johnny Glock triggers, but those can get pricey.

Snob? Moi? Discerning taste in triggers. . . You're too pahke to try. . . ;D
I think it's fine, but there's better out there. Quite a bit heavier than I've gotten used to. I've shot it fine with the stock trigger. The more research I did, got more interested in the O/P trigger. I have been shooting my Gucci Glock 19s after the 43x and makes me appreciate the trigger on the 19 even more.

Yeah, I'm too pake to make gucci stuff. Just don't let me try your gucci glock, this way I won't know what I'm missing out on. Mrs. CMO picking up the Shadow 2 blue tomorrow. Lack of cute holsters is the problem. She may have to go with plain Jane black.

I shot stock triggers for a LONG time. Both pistols and ARs. With Glock triggers, can get a wide range of OEM triggers. Most of the after market triggers are tweaks on the OEM parts.
Shooting the Shadow 2 will be interesting for you. . . I think. . . ;D

Mrs. CMO might get the Holosun 407K. She def won't keep the Romeo Zero on the P365XL, but unsure if she wants to RDS. This would be her first RDS.
Got the XL from SEC as they had it in stock. We gave DCT 1st draft choice, but he was unable to bring 1 in. Then went to Young Guns, but they only had the thumb safety model and unable to bring more in.

What's wrong with the Romeo Zero?
Some dots will sit higher depending on the plate. I was thinking about trying an EPS in place of the RMR06 on one of my Gucci Glock 19s, but since the slide is milled for the RMR, the plate would make the RDS sit ever so slightly higher. Would prob be ok, but not my preference.

The housing isn't metal, but a polymer (plastic). The lens is also plastic, which would be prone to scratches over the years. Like how I have scratches on my glasses from wiping them often. Then the battery is bottom load, which means need to re-zero and since there's no rear sight to align the front sight so you know where your dot sat prior, you will have to actually shoot to re-zero.
Then add in many legit YTers said it's trash. So add all the above in, we rather go with something more reliable since this will be her new CCW gun.
I mean, it's a good RDS for the price. But I wouldn't trust my life on it. So if it was just a range gun or never left the house, you're probably OK. But an EDC gun especially with lint/smudges getting on the "glass" which would mean wiping often, I don't have confidence.
1 Good and bad thing about the XL is that the optic cut is flat. So no plate needed for the 407K. But the bad part is no raised notches to help take the recoil force. So all the force are on the 2 screws. Like the Walther PDP V1. V2, they added the notches. But this is no difff from the optic plated I got from CHPWS for the Shield Plus. It's now a flat surface that my 507K sits on. DPP Titanium kept the notches, but they are sold out and have been for a while now.
Walther stated that the V1 cut is fine and the screws can take it. Also no vids of screws breaking on the PDP. But they listened to their consumers and added them on V2. Also I'm sure CHPWS knows what they're doing.

What's good about the K is that it has a rear sight notch on the optic. Cause with the XL, you lose your rear sight totally. The Romeo Zero has a notch as well. Bascially the XL would fit any RDS that is the same length as the 407K/507K. IDK the length of RMR or RMRcc. But those too buku for me.

I decided to read into the DPP Titanium for the Glock MOS on Amazon and looks like it would fit the Shield Plus. The only diff is that the screws it comes with isn't long enough.
I'm looking into what length the Shield Plus screws are.

Nice.
Have you tested/shot with the Shield mags? I've seen a lot of reports of malfunctioning with the 15 rd mags for the 43x. Don't know if that was early generation ones, but reports were maybe 6-8 months ago.
-
Installed the Overwatch Precision trigger into my 43x last night. Haven't shot it yet, and first impressions are crisper break than the stock trigger and reduced travel and creep, particularly in the reset. The didn't test the pull weight, but not that much less than the stock trigger. Still have the stock trigger in the 48 to compare to. Don't typically have after marker triggers in my Glocks, not including my Gucci Glocks. I've tested different connectors, like Ghost and ZEV, but none really impressed me that much.
Got holsters in for the 48 MOS, which fits the 43x just fine. But not the other way around due to the rail for the light. I have a holster on order for the 43x, which would have a slightly shorter holster body, but don't think that will be significant.

i did test, although not very scientific. I just took one box of ammo, and put a full load through all the mags I had, they all function like they're supposed to, and then i was out of ammo.. only had operator error where my gloved thumb pushed up on the larger Vickers Tactical slide lock inadvertently. need more practice with the little G43. probably should select a couple of the mags at random, and put maybe 5-10 mag-fulls through them. time and ammo.
-
I am tempted to get a G48 or a Shadow Systems pistol
I have a couple extra optics I could either sell or get pistols to mount them on
I have weak will power when I'm tempted by firearms >:D

Gotcha. I never owned a 43 before. However, a friend's friend owned one a while back and let us shoot it. He was having trouble with the slide stop. Both not locking back on empty and locking back inadvertently. I didn't notice, but I also only shot maybe 2-3 mags. The videos i've seen for the Shield mags, including in training courses with MSP, Sage, etc have indicated some issues. Might have been early iterations though. Plus, no sense going with those for the 43x and 48 for 15 round capacity for Hawaii. . . :(
For my 43x, I have the Vickers slide catch and really like it. Have it on all my Glocks. I tried the Vickers mag release, but hated it. The OEM works a lot better. Not sure if the release was defective. I have another one to try for my 48. The mags wouldn't eject with the same force, and very so often sort of just pop and not move if you didn't hit the release "just right". Only thing I can think of is it was catching/rubbing on the release.

there was a nice Shadow Systems pistol at the gun show with Holosun optic and damascus slide
i think it was on that guy Abraham's table. the Filipino guy without a shop but sells as a private dealer. table was near the restroom on the snack bar end of the show
sale price was 1500. sounds about right with the damascus slide and optic upgrades, but still on the expensive side for my wallet
maybe i'll look for a more budget Shadow systems pistol and add my own optic

Keeping up with the news, it appears that there might be a pistol qualification test for CCW.
Don't know the distance for the supposed qualification test, but I had a "shotgun" looking target at Kokohead shooting the P365 with open sights at 25 yards.
In this regard, I picked up a factory SIG slide with the Romeo RDS in case I need to qualify with the P365.
On sale, with the Romeo RDS.
Now I have the "basic" slim P365 grip module AND the little wider Wilson Combat grip module with weighted tungsten rods.
Plus, the "basic" P365 slide with open sights AND the new SIG cut-out slide with Romeo RDS.
I can then mix-and-match the pieces............. ;)
I hesitated to go with the new SIG slide only (without the RDS), because then I would need a mounting plate and a new RDS,
which a new slide, new mounting plate, and new RDS would be more than the pistol cost!
The SIG RDS mounts directly to the slide, and no need mounting plate which makes it lower.

Now I have the "basic" slim P365 AND the Wilson Combat grip module with weighted tungsten rods.
Plus, the "basic" P365 slide with open sights AND the new SIG cut-out slide with RDS.

If left as is, oahu qual is max 15yards.

Nice.
Have you tested/shot with the Shield mags? I've seen a lot of reports of malfunctioning with the 15 rd mags for the 43x. Don't know if that was early generation ones, but reports were maybe 6-8 months ago.
My Glock 48 jams at least once per magazine with the shield mags when I used them on the mainland, and that was with all 3 mags. Though I was using the regular plastic mag release. I didn't have time to test the metal one.

whether it's the metal or the plastic mag release, shouldn't make a difference in feeding reliability. if you're using the OEM plastic mag release with the metal mags, the mag catch slot on the mag, the metal edge, it'll chew up the plastic mag release. the mag catch will work, but eventually the plastic mag catch will fail. nothing to do with feeding, though. other than the mag slipping down, eventually.
and conversely, if you're using the metal mag release with the OEM-style plastic-covered mags, the metal mag release will chew up the plastic covering of the OEM mags. it'll work, but it's a longevity thing. eventually the ledge in the mag will be rounded off, chewed off. mag might not seat at the right height for reliable feeding.
therefore, the metal mag release with metal mags. and I guess, plastic mag release with plastic mags.
since the G43 mag release can be installed either LH or RH, I installed mine RH, and rounded, smoothed the lower sharp edge on the mag catch before installation, meh, it won't work if reversed and LH installed now, but I'm not LH either, so no biggie. so if I ever had to use the plastic-coated mags, they ought to survive since no sharp metal edges to gouge out the plastic. also makes for smoother, easier mag insertion. In any event, regardless, I went all-in, and bought several of the Z9 mag 3-packs, lotta mags to test. all my OEM mags went in a box.
i also replaced the mag release spring rod with a reduced power 2.5# spring (RYG), so that I could use the thumb knuckle to pop the mag release without changing my grip. IMHO, the G43 OEM mag release spring was kinda stiff, required hand gymnastics to drop the mag. YMMV

Interesting to see how that Etsy holster works for you/her. I associated Etsy with hobbiest, but I am sure you did a LOT of research and thinking about it. . . ;D

Zippz and rpol - If any of you want a Vickers slide release for 43 or 43x/48, let me know. I have two FDE/brown for the 43 and one black for the 43x/48 that you can have/try if you want.

She did all the "research". By research, I mean what looks cool. TBH, her views are more toward looks pretty, vs mine as functionality. She was looking at Tier1 Concealed, but no pretty holsters. But in the end, Kydex is kydex and she will be fine with her etsy holster.
Whenever I get a holster, regardless of the brand, I do about 100 draws just to make sure the gun doesn't go click when inserting or drawing. You can never be too careful.

1) You sure? Maybe people can change. . . ;D
2) Again, you sure? I can tell you, or maybe even show you on the range next time, issues I've seen with hobby or homemade kydex holsters. One key thing to watch for is clearance to the mag release. Giving ya a hint, not quite clue. . . I've seen it happen to a good buddy who makes his own holsters, and quite avid shooter.

I have a couple Etsys holsters that fit and work very well. Many sellers make quality holsters

I got the TREX Sidecar 2.0 holster for my 48 MOS and I've been trying it out. Still feels and looks like the grip prints so I might need to start wearing large and looser fitting t-shirts.

Belt? The Kore belt creates a nice "ring" around my waist and the grip walls within. I used to use an Atlas belt, which was thinner. The thicker Kore belt helps provide a bit more space.

Have u tried a wedge?
The issue with bigger shirts are that they're longer .I wear a XL and had Mrs.CMO cowgirl ride me and the length of the shirt got caught under her. Which meant there is no way I could lift my shirt to grab my gun. So imagine a dude MMA style on u and also raining punches. U going get KTFO while u try to clear your shirt. So instead, I'm not even going to try more than 1 attempt. After that 1, I will roll over wrestling style, clench, or create space. But not continue to try to clear the shirt while having punches rain down.

Haven't really looked at belts. I've been old London Bridge Trading Inc. riggers belt. I've got another thicker EDC type belt I can try out from Jones Tactical.

Only thing I've done is move the wing thing to the outside to push the holster more in and push the belt and pants outward.

So u dont waste $ on 1, try a like version just to see. Like roll fabric or what ever u got laying around. If it works, then buy 1 or can make 1 out of a yoga block.
Or go wholefoods and try a wedge of cheese for sampo.

Got the slide from SIG today. Got the FDE cerakote for durability.
Put on the Wilson Combat grip module and switched out the regular mag and the extended mag in these photos
Might have to go to Honolulu Firearms & Range on Queen St., to sight-in the pistol since Kokohead closed.

Looks good!
Also picked up a Wilson Combat module. I really like the palm swells. Feels much more secure in the hand and pointable. I got the XL size. Was debating myself if should go with 365 or 365XL version. Liking the XL not much longer than the small.

Aftermarket FDE cerakote? I have noticed that the OEM finish on my P320 X-Full is already showing signs of holster wear. Don't mind at all, just something I noted. It's primarily a range and competition pistol, at least for now.
Looking forward to seeing how you like the grip, even with the extended mag.

No, not aftermarket cerakote. It came FDE from SIG, probably more durable than just the black/anodized finish......

I agree, the Wilson Combat grip module is much better with the palm swells, although it makes the grip a little wider....
I also got the tungsten rods (3 of them) to place inside the grip module, which adds a lot of heft to it..... Probably much easier to control the pistol that's a little heavier.

Don't jinx it man. Right now I'm borrowing my neighbors torx set. I may have to invest in buying my own. I used his punch set when installing her trigger on the M&P 9C. Had trigger issues so I ended up buying my own as well and have used it a few times since. Like on the 1911 lining up the ring that moves on the barrel with the hole on the frame so I can push the take down lever thru. I mean I could use a hibachi stick, but I paid for the punch set, so might as well use it.

Torx bits? You should get a set of torx and hex/allen bits (both SAE and metric). Not that expensive. I have multiple sets (home, range bag, etc). You can put together sets for not that much $$$, and you'll get lots of use.

At least when it comes to 22 BA, for me guud enuff is fine. But same with zeroing the AR. With zero power RDS, 50 yards small tangerine is guud enuff. And as you've seen in skill builders, it is.
Maybe 1 day I'll also look into LPVO for a 2nd AR.

While I have an AR with a LPVO, ask me how often I shoot it. . . It is/was fun to see what the platform can do with optics and how it (can) help in the 100-600 yard window. How often do I need that? Dunno, but having a nice LPVO sure is fun. You should get one.

From loading and unloading rounds?
That sucks for a new gun. Try taking the mag apart and wiping down the spring and follower. Something similar was happening with some Magpul Glock 19 mags. Follower would get stuck about half way up and rounds were loose after about 2-5 shots. Took mags apart and springs were gummed up. Wiped spring and followed down and haven’t happened since. Those mags had hundreds of rounds thru and in all sorts of weather. Compared to new mags, the springs that were getting caught up were noticeably rough and gummed up with a thin film.

Yeah. When I picked the gun up new, sig has some kind of gummy preservative on it. Cleaned it up thoroughly. Everything was much smoother.

This was the first thing I checked. IDK which side is forward, but when I switched it, it had the same issue. Also everything is clean, no gunk.
I called SIG and they are currently out of 10rd XL/X mags. These are mainly marketed to anti 2a states and they didn't make enough to keep up with the demand. So they will email me once they're available so I can fill out the form and they replace them.
Need this to be running b4 Thanksgiving as we are going to Vegas and Mrs.CMO want's to carry this. Worst case, we can always buy standard cap mags up there. The first 4-5 rounds feed fine. That's better than nothing.
David and DCT has some blocked XL mags, I'll try hit him up. We needed more anyways.

I'll check later. So far my google search, gunmag warehouse has them in stock. But I won't support them because they think AR mags are illegal here. Even though Andrew from HIFICO has sent them what our law states, sent them the bill where they tried to ban rifle mags (why ban something that is already illegal), multiple times. Others have done the same, yet they refuse to budge.
Rumor is they got a letter from our AG, you know the AG office who's been "losing" all the 2a cases.

I wanted to try with the suppressor height sights, see how the co-witness looks vs with the regular sights
-
With the small window of the EPS carry, I found the iron sight height is more noticeable. It 'can" take up more of the window. For the 43x, the OEM sights were usable, but maybe 1/16" of the sight above the top of the optic body. The Dawson sights are slightly taller than the Glock OEM. If time permitting, I typically shoot with the dot centered in the window, like when zeroing. Beyond that, I typically have the dot lower in the window. With the Dawson sights, I found myself having dot pretty close to or on the front sight. Giving the dot more room in the window in the "recoil cycle".
-

If talking about pistols, it's not recommended that the iron sights be "absolute co-witnessed" with an RDS. The less cluttered your viewfinder, the easier it is to locate and aim the dot.
Jedlinski’s opinion is slightly different. “I don’t really have a preference for dot placement,” he says.
“Placing the dot behind the rear sight is a hardware solution to a software problem.” When it comes
to zeroing your dot and the relationship between the red dot and your regular sights, both men agree:
let the red dot be a red dot, and let your iron sights be iron sights.
“Suppressor height sights, especially the Ameriglo versions, are fine with a red-dot pistol,” says
Fisher. “But they should not have an absolute co-witness with your red dot. You’re negating a good
portion of the benefits of having a red dot if you try to make a red dot line up exactly with your irons. ”
Jedlinski agrees: “I recommend having iron sights of some kind on any pistol with a red dot. Red dots
can fail. Batteries can run out. But there are no electronics involved in a front and rear sight.” He also r
ecommends a minimalist approach to your sights, saying, “You don’t want to clutter up your field of view
with a lot of useless information. Keep your iron sights minimal, with blacked-out front and rear sights so
they don’t distract your eyes from the dot.”

Absolute co-witnessing works best on rifles with flip-up sights, so you can keep the viewfinder clear until you want/need the iron sights.
-
If talking about pistols, it's not recommended that the iron sights be "absolute co-witnessed" with an RDS. The less cluttered your viewfinder, the easier it is to locate and aim the dot.

CHWPS post on their IG various RDS with and without supressor height sights to show the clutter.

this is the same setup that I intend to run. its pretty close to absolute co witness, but I don't think its too much clutter. go to 28:15 to see the sights and red dot

The dot is co-witnessing pretty low in the viewfinder, making me think the height of his iron sights and the height of the RDS mount are causing a 1/3 co-witness (vs absolute), which is how I prefer my rifle red dots. That keeps the iron sights out of the center when using the red dot, but allows for iron sight use and/or verifying the red dot is zeroed as needed.

let me be more specific. I won't have the pocket clip and the laser, just the red dot and sights will be the same
yeah, that is like a mall ninja setup he has. :D

Haven't shot Mrs. CMO's P365 XL yet, but I def like the feel of it compared to the Shield Plus. Since the slide on the XL is longer, it's easier to rack from the front. Since both have RDS on it, I tend to rack it from the RDS. But IDK if this is the correct way of doing it. The only down fall currently to racking via the RDS is the palm print left on the glass. Not too big of a deal, but OCD in my wants a clean glass.
But of the 2, the Shield mags work like how they should. Can't say the same of the P365 XL mags.

Get a Spectre. . . just dooooo it!
As for racking, try for yourself. Depends on why you're racking. Malfunction, loading, etc. If malfunction clearance, try thinking about economy of motion.

The more I shoot the 43x, I see pluses and minuses. With more shooting, I think I can certainly improve. For now, I don't see going from a 19 or even 17 to the 43x.
My 43x is currently "in the shop" to get the grip laser stippled, including the trigger guard. I am wondering if a little more grip texture will help, but overall I think the grip is a little small, particularly the width. Definitely will continue to shoot the 43x, including hopefully in a match.

I need a better CCW holster for the 43
I do have a bunch of Kydex and accoutrements that i've never attempted to use.
-
I tried the ccw qual's shoots this weekend with G19 and passed no problem.
Then tried with a 43 and leather IWB leather & clip (3 o'clock)
Was making the times into the 3 x 3 but barely and it didn't "feel right" :shake: so I quit halfway thru. :-[
I need a better CCW holster for the 43 and I'll try again.

Nobody likes a quitter. . .
LMK if you want to try some of the holsters I have for the 43x and 48 MOS. All of the holsters I have for the 48 MOS can accommodate the 43x. I recently received a holster dedicated for the 43x. I have to check, but I have two IWB holsters that can fit both. I have holsters for just the gun and a "sidecar" model. They do conceal slightly better than similar holsters for the 19 and 17, but marginally. Maybe if I tried the Neomag beltless method, I can envision that being more "streamlined".

Not a 43x, just a plain ole 43, stock sights, no light.
If it fit's, I'd be happy to try. :shaka:

Initially, I noticed the 43X/48 tends to float in my hand. I was probably going to find some sports/hockey tape to build up the grip and fill in the palm a little better.

Interesting. LMK how that works for you if you try.
A number of folks (gun-modifiers) do a "razorback", which builds up the back of the grip (palm swell?). I heard that really helps with the 43x/48 and the P365 models. I have a 17 on order with that treatment.
-

I have a 3D printed back strap piece, I ordered, that builds up the grip some. I never shot with it on. When I installed it I was on the fence if it made it better, worse, or indifferent.

Thanks, but I'm already set on trying just the sports tape. Not trying to do too much mods.
I'm fairly comfortable with the 48 till I start to mix the 19 in a range session then it starts feeling a little off.

The dot sits right above the iron sights. I'm thinking after I sight it in, the dot might move up a bit. I like the lower 1/3 co witness

The Dems should be happy with your "green" choice! :geekdanc:
Curious if your Sig sights are set at "combat" type sight picture (front sight covers the entire bullseye) versus the "lollipop" style (front sight only covers the bottom half of the bullseye).
All my Sigs came with combat sights. It's been a major point of debate among Sig owners, many wishing Sig would copy the majority and save owners the confusion of remembering how to aim.

BTW when I use this, there is zero flinching. Laser hits where the dot is. So this further shows my disconnect when shooting for real. Just knowing the gun will go bang causes flinch. My grouping at 10 yards with the laser is inside a regular grape (not jumbo).

Probably the extreme focus prevents flinching. Like a cat with a laser pointer

Also picked up a Wilson Combat module. I really like the palm swells. Feels much more secure in the hand and pointable. I got the XL size. Was debating myself if should go with 365 or 365XL version. Liking the XL not much longer than the small.
Heavies,
Consider the WC tungsten rods which go into the grip module.

I got them, and it really settles down the pistol. If CCW though, I might take out the rods for lightweight.

Nice!
I've heard/read where some recommend contrasting the front sight color with the dot. Say green dot and red front sight. I have all red/red except for one pistol, where the P320 has a green night sight. I have had the red/red setup for quite a while now and I never see the front sight.
Going back to cowitness, if you meant lower 1/3 protrusion of the sight into the window, check out Dawson Precision. They have quite a few options on height. Otherwise the lower 1/3 cowitness is different from rifles, since your head position relative to the optic is not fixed.

Instead of buying a new front sight, would coloring it be an option? I mean it is a backup anyways.

I guess. Most of my iron sights are FO, so easy to switch colors. The sights on my P309 are night sights. I don't even notice them when shooting with the RDS. If were to bother me? Nail polish is a decent option. I have that on a couple of 1911s that came with plain front sight. Used orange on those.
-
It was a very big deal when S&W started installing "Red Ramp"/White Outline sights. The sight picture was much easier and quicker to align than the standard black on black sights. It was very common for gun owners to put a small white dot on the front sight, since that's the sight you need to focus on.
With the advent of different styles and materials of sights, it's now possible to have both glowing night sights and bright FO sights at the same time. The colors have become an individual choice. There's no optimal color or combination that's perfect for everyone.
You should get the combination of colors based on which ones tend to attract your eye. If red gets your focus first, make that the front sight color. If white, orange or green catches your eye first, use that one. Make the rear sight more visible than just plain black but less prominent than the front.
Sometimes when you have red front and green rear sights, your brain has to stop and think about which color is which. Making the sights on all your guns the same color combo reduces variations, and thus the delay in recognition.
So, obviously the benefits of contrasting colors on sights has been around for many decades. I had these exact sights on my S&W 586 in 1985.

When i got my vp9 with night sights (white phos dots), i used a sharpie to black out the rear.
Then i overpaid on trijicon tridium. Cause with my WML on, i cannot see any tridium, just black front post and rear notch.

I prefer blacked out rear. Typically serrated, but not critical.
There’s another thread somewhere here on no/low light. Might be in the fiber optic thread. That said, RDS pistols changes things.

I've benn "upgrading" my pistols as I feel the urge with these:

You can usually pick from a variety of colors, too. The Amazon listing for the Glock sights offer Rear/Front combos Green/Green or Yellow Green.
https://www.truglo.com/tfo/
I do like them better than the night site only types. I find those a little hard to see in bright light.
YMMV

That's the circle/dot reticle
Pic is taken up close so the reticle is much smaller than when you are shooting with elbows straight
When shooting arms outstretched, the reticle is larger so picks up your focus primarily vs the iron sights
My g19 has red dot with trijicon green night sights and dot acquisition feels about the same to me, although the tritium on the g19 is smaller dot than the sig. Not a big deal to me. Plus I just like the green dot better
-
Hellcat with Swampfox Sentinel green dot
Co witness is low in the window. Maybe doesn't distract your vision as much from the dot. But a little harder to see the iron sights when its really low vs suppressor sights, but its not bad, good for backup irons
This optic has the footprint of the Shield RMSc or Holosun 507k. Its under $200 with discount code. Either auto adjustment RDS or manual, mine is manual. I prefer manual. Still has shake awake, but can shut off if you like

Rear is green tritium, front is green tritium with FO orange. I do like the contrast
This is on my Ruger American pistol. There's no optic cut, but at least I upgraded the iron sights from the factory 3 dot. Much better now
-
I notice when I draw either pistols that have the RDS on them, I am slightly high as my POA. So I just break my wrist down very slightly and the dot comes into view. Guess my natural POA is with the irons on the VP9 (6 years worth).
It only takes a fraction of a second to find the dot if I'm not perfect. Some times the dot is in view, but not often enough like how the irons are aligned.
But some times too, the irons are not aligned, so RDS/irons same same. It's not like I'm hunting for the dot which I've seen a handful of shooters do in skill builders.
What I want to practice later is what to do if the dot is not on. How much time will I spend hunting before I just use irons. For my AR, I've had the battery die a few times where it's automatic to either use existing points of reference for close shots, or pop up the back up sights for longer or more precise shots. I know where my AR RDS sits when aiming.

Got the 43x back with laser stippling and trigger guard work. Texture feels better than the stock frame, and similar to the stippling on my Gucci 19s. The texture is a decent level of texture. I wasn’t sure how coarse the laser stippling would be, but initial impression is its a good level of grip. Will see how it shoots though. Thinking of having work done on an older 17 frame if this one works out well.

Update from DPP Titanium (RDS plate)
They haven't sent me the "updated" plate to try yet. They were having some measurement issues. I think it's because the paint they use add extra thickness to the post slots. There is 1 YT'er who mentioned he had to remove the paint for the plate to fit. It's a very tight fit that's why. Others had to hammer it in.
I looked at their G43X and Hellcat plates and they seem to be the same footprint as the Shield Plus. The main diff is that diff screws will need to be used.
I told DPP this and they are sending me the plate with screws to try. They're based in China so they asked if I had a caliper to send them the cut measurements. But I told them that's above my pay grade. They don't own these types of pistols in China, which makes sense why they cannot measure themselves.
The reason why I rather have the DPP plate vs CHWPS is because DPP has post for the optic to fit into. CWHPS just makes a flat fitting, so all the impact from recoil will be on the 2 screws holding the optic on.
Mrs.CMO's P365XL has raised screw post which will absorb the recoil, so it's not a true "flat" fitting.
The same issue was with the V1 Walther PDP, which now they have V2 that have raised post. Walther claims the flat fit will absorb recoil on the screws fine. But guess enough people complained that they updated to raised post.

Maybe that’s why they sit on their ass and take their time. That and the reassurance of the new governor mentioning he has good lawyers.

I'm getting off subject so I will get back on track:
I'm thinking of getting a snub revolver in 9mm. There are some aftermarket moon clips that are far superior to the junk ones that come with the gun. The reload is pretty fast. Only down side is the bulk of the clip if you want to carry back up.
Would welcome any advice or experiences from you guys out there. Seem like moon clip 9mm is faster to reload than the conventional speed loaders for the other calibers.

Reloading is quick, however…
One thing with moon clips, if they get bent a little, it can jam up the cylinder and lock up the gun.
Not sure if certain ones are better than others. With my experience with them, in a Colt 1917 .45acp, I have to handle them with kid gloves. This is with both half and full moon clips. They tend to get bent out of flatness very easily.

On top of that, you're limiting yourself to 5, 6, or maybe 7 rds before the need to reload. the state's 10 rd limit for pistols is a much better number IMO. It's all relative.
So, that's something to think about. Not just whether reloading can be more difficult with bent moon clips, but how soon in a fight will you need to reload?
If I carry a revolver, it's more likely as a backup.

What revolver are you thinking of getting?
Snubnose revolver is still a good option :shaka:

I like my LCR for HD bc it's small, light, and familiar to me
Outside the home I prefer my G19 or Sig P365 or Hellcat
I have a s&w 627 snubnose that takes moonclips but I only have used speedloader so far

Maybe the LCR. But Taurus and others look tempting too. :shaka:

See dogman when the range opens back up. He as (or at least used to have) a plethora of revolvers in various calibers and with moonclips.

I’ve shot an Airweight S&W in .38. It’s absolutely punishing with .38spl +P. Lol

The hogue tamer grip on the LCR 38sp+p helps a little but still very snappy for a 38 caliber gun
The airweight is a few oz lighter than the LCR
I wouldn't want either one in 357mag

Definitely would consider it. The workmanship is awesome. I love revolvers. They are beautiful handguns to me.

Thanks for the input. Never realized the clips are so flimsy that they will bend out of flatness. I viewed some YT videos that addressed the problem of the clips never retaining the round very well. They would fall out when you handle the clip. So they showed how to tweak the clips so the rounds wouldn't fall out. And then they showed some aftermarket clips that looked beefier and more sturdy.
The speed of reloading with clips is what attracted me to consider a snub 9mm revolver. Still looking for a gun that will go bang when you want it to go bang.
In the General Discussions thread I shared about my P365 not firing because there was too much lube/solvent clogging the striker channel. At least this is what SIG said when I sent it back. My confidence is shaken with the gun, especially when I personally feel I didn't over lube it like SIG claimed.
I think I will still buy a 9mm revolver if I get the chance. I'll look at aftermarket clips also and if they perform well in the gun I will buy a million of them.

"especially when I personally feel I didn't over lube it like SIG claimed." This statement should be "especially when I never lubed the channel".
Learning points: I haven't shot Mrs. CMO's P365XL since we will be function checking it and zero (RDS) in Vegas soon. Since reading your post, I also cleaned the channel. The cloth was slightly black, but no grease in there. She will still carry it because how often does an out of the box gun not go bang? Ranges up there closed on Thanksgiving (when we land), so won't be able to test until Black Friday. Even if gun doesn't go bang, bang, bang (rapid fire), she knows how to malfunction clear and at worst a round or a few will be able to be shot b4 a jam.
Regarding the revolver, they make flat clips that hold the rounds in a row instead of a circle (cylinder). Pro is that you can easily fit this in a pocket since it's flat compared to a speed loader type (great for inside a pants pocket). Con is it takes much longer to reload compared to a speed loader.
IMO a revolver (snub nose) is a boot gun (back up) for the following reasons:
1) Lack of capacity, on average 5-6 rounds. Compared to a 10rd (HI law) mag.
2) Reloading takes much longer for an average person.
3) Recoil management for rapid fire shots is harder
4) Accuracy at more than 15 yards comes into play for the average person
5) Lack of attachments (WML, RDS, etc...)
6) Speed loader is much bulkier than a magazine
The real pro's are as follows:
1) No worry about being out of battery for CQB (end of barrel pressed against something)
2) Jamming is greatly reduced (most likely would affect pocket carry. When shooting from inside your jacket pocket)
In the end, the pro's don't outweigh the cons.

Thanks for your input. I agree about the pros and cons. I might still buy it though. As far as my P365, although I'm a bit shaken that it didn't go bang, I will learn to disassemble the striker assembly and dry out the chamber and striker periodically. This is the only way I can start feeling confident with the gun again.
I do love the gun. I like how it feels in my (rather large for my size) hands and it's potential concealability. :shaka:

You should think about how many rds u need to fire b4 u feel confident in it.
To help, many others carry this with confidence. Its not like its a no name model or has such a small following that the lack of users doesnt give confidence.
Example, i got a box of critical duty 45 HP's. 2 rds in the box of 20 didnt feed. I chose another HP brands that has zero FTF (feed) or any other jamming since the options are plentafull.

Other pros for a revolver:
Reliability. You wont have any ftf or fte or magazine issues bc there is no mag
Simplicity
Light primer strike or doesnt go bang, no need to tap or rack. Just pull the trigger again and the cylinder rotates to the next round. thats faster.
Shooting at a longer distance, I can shoot my 3" GP100 more accurately than my 3" semiautos. At a distance, go to SA and the trigger is 1-2 lbs short and crisp. Hard to beat a SA trigger
Downside is capacity. But most personal defense scenarios against 1 attacker, you will only fire 1 or 2 rounds at close quarters. Especially if you're using 357 magnum, that's all you will need. ;)
If I were out and about in places like waikiki or a mall or someplace where a mass shooting might happen, I would like to have higher capacity like in a semiauto 9mm

Some CCW holders also see themselves as sheepdogs. But I don't plan to be one unless I absolutely have to. My thinking and protective stance is strictly self defense of myself and loved ones.
So I tend to lean towards revolvers despite their limited round capacity. And even then, if I can withdraw from the confrontation or situation all the better. No need to draw the gun and no need for anyone to even know how close they were to getting shot.
But the P365 is a gem. Small, compact, highly concealable yet with a high round capacity relative to it's size.
I think having a compact 9mm revolver along with a P365 will make me happy as far as having SD guns on hand.
I still want to buy a full size auto pistol for range fun. But that's for another thread discussion.

That's a good topic. Start a thread. It's a topic that has been discussed in the past, but A) important to share your interests and perspective/context and B) probably lots of new(er) shooters wondering the same thing. Especially without range days to get out there and try.

What about rapid fire at 10-15 yards or so? No time to cock the hammer.

I would do a test of rapid firing a revolver at 10 yards vs a semi auto pistol. Then compare the grouping/hits and speed between shots.

6 shots of 44magnum in 1 second
Of course Jerry Miculek is a little better than your average shooter
But I do agree that a semiauto would be faster shooting and reloading is faster in the semiauto. But you can still be pretty quick with a revolver. Probably not as quick as Jerry Miculek

The point would be a normal person wouldn't be able to do that and get accurate hits. Compared to any semi auto pistol (exclude DEagle).

With about the same amount of practice (dry/live) as it takes to get accurate hits with a semi auto, any “normal” person could manage it.
It’s not that difficult ???
-
I don't doubt that a snub revolver is difficult to shoot accurately. And DA only mode makes it harder. But it's a "get off me" gun. Close quarters. Last resort.
I think if we train for the scenario you bought the gun for, we should be ok.
A person who aspires to be a sheepdog would not get a snub revolver for example.

So the new rules for the Chief state you cannot carry more than 1 gun. So no boot gun snub nose.

The DPP Titanium plate is on the way and should arrive tomorrow. Just in time for our trip to Vegas where I can zero.
-
Got the DPP installed and side by side comparison with CHWPS is night and day.even on the underbelly, DPP has a notch so the pin that can protrude from the slide, which mine did. So the CHWPS didnt sit flush until i had to hammer that pin in slightly.
Also DPP came in a cool plastic container and the tool needed for the screws.
The lack of side to side movement until tightening the screws is non-existant due to the raised notches on DPP. Unlike CHWPs that has non, the RDS moves side to side prior to tghtening. So u have to make sure youre not crooked.
Price is about half of what CHWPS charges.
Overall, the craftmanship is much better with DPP and CHWPS looks lazy compared to them. But DPP is made in china, but so is my Holosun (get over it.*Jedi).(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20221120/80711f87196d3f19e1079d9e92f59555.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20221120/a6c064a35324d2890fd375507d345481.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20221120/58b3b8628373caa78201966336676a9a.jpg)

Ever notice when this guy shoots in SA mode, he takes it off target to high ready position to cock the hammer. Why not keep on target and cock the hammer?
But I like his videos, great reviews. He is honest :shaka:

Looks like the DPP is slightly thicker than the CHPWS. That might impact the ability to use "standard height" sights. Not a huge deal for me. Just noticed that with the 43x slide that was milled, I could used the stock sights with the EPS Carry, but barely, which was fine for me. I haven't shot the 48 MOS yet. Thinking of selling and just sticking with the 43x only. Then going with a 17/19 with optic specific milling.

XL was nickle grouping at 10 yrds
Shield was 3 inches right at 10 yrds. Grouping was golfball.
Then when mag dumping (rapid fire) at 10yrds, was low 4 inches and grouping was cantalope for both guns.

A nickel at 10 yards with the 365XL is pretty darn good. 5 shot groups?
For the "mag dump", did the string start off at intended POI, then track lower?
Next time, try this sequence. From holster, draw and fire 1 at 7 yards with par time of 3 seconds. Then shoot 2 shots, and so on until 6 shots total. Trying to keep even cadence in a given string. Check your work after each string. Goal should be keep hits within IPSC A-Zone, or say challenge yourself with a 6" diameter circle. If you can do 6 shots in 3 second par time, decrease to 2 seconds or less. That way, you're getting in good reps with each string for your "mag dumps".

2 groups of 3 shots. Had 1 flyer that was me and not the gun. So "close enough", "I don't live life that hard" -MSD quote.
For mag dump, I was aiming center mass and it all was lower. So I'm pressing trigger too hard when mag dumping due to excitement if we can call it that. I know what I can do for slow fire, so this is 1 area that I need to correct. Esp since this 4 inches low will amplifly at further distances. But to be fair, I don't mag dump at 25 yards, cause no way I'm hitting the target. I know my limits. When I say mag dump, I'm talking like 10 rds in 2 seconds or just under that.
So with the above being done, I'm confident even when not shooting since mid September that I can pass the CCW qual with my Shield that's a smaller and on paper, less accurate than the VP9.
What I did learn and which is why I don't like precision shooting (300+yards), is that I don't have the patience due to boredom and caffeine to slow fire. I hated zeroing our guns. Which is why I only did 2 strings each. So "close enough". Then just mag dumping with Mrs. CMO's P365XL to function test since we haven't shot it yet. So mag dumping 150rds FMJ and 50rds Gold Dot 124 gr. I got bored and also understood the capability of the gun and myself. So no sense to continue to slow fire that gets repeated results.
Plus Mrs. CMO was waiting in the lobby at Range 702 for me to finish, so I didn't want her waiting too long.
After shooting the XL, I didn't notice the mush trigger at all, which is the same with the P320. Only during dry fire is it noticeable. With that being said, I like the XL better than the Shield. It just looks cooler.
Also CCWing a smaller gun is noticeably different than the VP9 (AIWB each). Especially when sitting. The VP9 digs into right above where my shaft begins, and the WML on the VP9 goes along side, touching the shaft. The smaller Shield doesn't have this issue of any digging in while seated. Also I have no WML on the shield. And the weight difference even with the side car mag is noticeable. The shield set up is much lighter.
The shitty part are the metal clips I have on the Tier1 holster. Metal is slimmer than plastic clips, but also latch on way more and can damage a leather belt if not careful when donning and doffing. This is my polo shirt tucked into slacks set up, so I need to be more concealed with the thinner metal clips. So I may buy another Tier1 sidecar later and have this as my plastic clips for all other wardrobes once HI issues CCW's. Or a non sidecar for when I carry at the 4 oclock, which I prefer in HI and not in Vegas due to leaning forward at the craps tables all day and a 4 oclock hold would print lots.
This was my first time CCWing the Shield and it's set up.
I did notice the RDS sits right above my pants button. I cannot lower the pistol because then it wouldn't be able to get my fingers around the grip when drawing since it would then sit flush with my belt. Now that I have carried it for a few days, I can understand the potential lint issue.

Flier, eh? ;D
I was going to shoot the posted courses of fire over the weekend, but got lazy. Maybe this coming weekend, but on an IPSC target.
For the clips for the T1C holster, LMK if you want some plastic belt clips. I have a bunch of extra that I don't use. I think I have extra Ulticlip as well that I don't use.

Thanks for the offer, T1 actually sent me the plastic ones by mistake with the metal ones. They are supposed to charge extra for a 2nd set of clips.

Forgot to add that Mrs.CMO likes carrying the P365XL better than the P10C. The size is much lighter and smaller. She hasn't shot it yet, only I did, but IMO the XL is more accurate. I have never grouped rounds inside a nickel at 10yards with the P10C. The rounds were pretty much touching. IDK if it's the gun or the RDS on it. But she does have a 6 MOA Holosun 407K, so the dot did cover the entire X circle.

How come she didn't shoot it at 702? You had the yellow chips. . . ;D
After about 500 rounds with the 43x, I would be ok with carrying it. However, my primary would still be a 17 or 19. I shoot them way better, but maybe not fair since I have a lot more time with those guns.
Maybe try finding someone with a P10C with RDS. Might be the one for you. . . ;D
